I just managed last night to do a complete playthrough on easy with MD controls and MD death mode, in other words, as easy as it gets. It really was a blast, and seeing the additional levels beyond the three I had on the C64 version BITD was a real treat. It also looks like if you finish in easy mode, the game starts over in medium, which is nice.
I saw a glitch- I can't remember which level it was, but it was one of the levels where you run across bridges over water (I know it wasn't the second level). Sometimes enemy soldiers would appear on the water on the left side of the bridge and walk across it. This happened with me using an Analogue Mega SG with a Mega Everdrive Pro.

I only had a chance to play very briefly, but had a very good time! The original was the first arcade cabinet I ever saw, it was in a bar my dad used to go to and I was mesmerized by it! For that reason, I was also super excited when I saw RT2 for Genesis on the shelf some years later. Thank you again for making this game! I would have loved to have it at home BITD. I also like that 2P is possible.
A few constructive criticisms:
-In the first level, the BULLETS door which is right before where you jump down the big, gray steps into the basement does not contain any bullets- I also saw this was the case in a video of someone playing the game on YouTube.
-Collision detection is a bit more forgiving than the original (which probably is a good thing!).
-Most importantly, 9 credits might seem like a lot, but I am pretty sure that I will never be able to finish the game. If there were a simple password system, that would really help to make the game more accessible (or maybe there already is one? I didn't have time to get into the home mode).
Addendum: What I have written relates to the Alpha version.
As you can tell from username, this is one of my favorite series! Thank you so much for making this game, I'd wished for years we had it on the Genesis and now we do!
I haven't had a chance to play through yet. Does it include all of the levels from the original, plus the harder version after you've beaten it?
I'd love in the future to see a de-make of Elevator Action Returns for the Genesis/ MD.
I just downloaded this and played it for the first time last night, and I am hooked!
The NES version had secret underground bunkers full of rescuable POWs that you could expose with a grenade blast. That would be amazing if they could be included in a future version. I'd pay good money for that.
I also generally really like the idea of versions of games that include the best features from every single version/ platform.
Thank you for making this game!
