1. The first track gives me strong final fantasy VI vibes, the composition is really nice and I LOVE how it builds. The middle seems to interpolate the beginning of the opera sequence in FFVI. Really nice ! A great opening!
2. I found that I wish this one kept it's energy up more. Instead, the melody starts interesting and energetic, but instead fall abruptly in many different slower passages. I found the transitions abrupt.
3. Similar feelings to the 2nd, but I enjoyed it a lot more. While I do wish it kept up it's momentum, I enjoyed the slower passages a lot more this time around.
First track reminds me a LOT of final fantasy VI, especially one moment in the middle as the piano builds, really nice stuff :) One of my favorite introductions of the jam so far.
Second track wasn't my favorite, I found that the melody often started strong, but it meanders after a little bit, and I feel like it should've instead built up energy and momentum.
Third track, while the others have had some classical influence for sure, this one has it the strongest. I similarly feel like it should've built up energy and momentum at points, but the softer and slower passages felt a lot more enjoyable and kept me engaged! Great and creative synth work too, if simple. Sometimes simple is best!
1. Instantly intrigued by the banjo! Percussion comes in super strong and from the beginning I was already hooked ! Really enjoyed the synthesis and sound design
2. Sound design here as with the first is super interesting, without being too out there or distracting. Like many here, this captures a very "otherworldly" feel that I enjoy a lot :) The synths here, are excellent. AGAIN, very intriguing, and while I think some might find it a bit TOO weird, I loved them a lot.
3. This one is a little silly, lighthearted and a great tune. Most interesting song structure of the three, in my opinion!
Overall, I found that maybe some of the pitch wonkiness was a little too much for my liking, but that the overall sound, style, progression, etc were all fantastic!.
1. I really enjoy the jazzy piano melody, and the arpeggio that caries the track in the right ear really reminds me of the Wii, perfect for a hub world and super nostalgic sounding
2. Enjoy this one a bit too, the ambience is super peaceful and synth textures are nice, if a little static.
3. This once's 80s synth feel is really enjoyable, and the melodic progression is really interesting, especially the combination with the strings. Although I feel like as waltz it's a little basic.
Really really lovely! The harp arpeggios sorta remind me of a part of my own submission a little bit, I really like the instrumentation as it's super gorgeous. I'm very partial to instruments like piano, flute, and harp, they're some of my favorite classical instruments so this ended up being a favorite of mine ! I do think it could use some variety, as much as I love the elements I just listed, I do think arpeggios can be overused and think some other instruments could add some more variety. I also suggest changes in dynamics as I think they could help more especially in track IV. Other than that, really solid submission !
I think, while definitely fitting the vibe of the jam and theme well, and providing some fitting ambience and soundscapes, you said it best yourself. It's monotonous. There's something to be said about a piece being ambient to evoke atmosphere but I think that on it's own its a bit lacking.Definitely on the right track though !
Definitely some weird clipping at points, which was odd, and I wasn't *wow'd* by the composition in the first track. HOWEVER the instrumentation itself is really really well done and the instruments sound quite realistic and well programmed. The second track is really good and my personal favorite of the two. I really enjoyed the woodwind parts especially.
I feel like this isn't the most fitting given the theme of the jam, the images given don't really reflect the high fantasy genre this one takes on. That being said, I still enjoyed it quite a bit. Good job!
Synchronize: love the sweeping pianos and overall vibe, it has a very windy feel to it, for lack of a better adjective. Sound design is cool, and it's a great start, although I do wish it went a little longer and built up a bit more.
The second track had a bit of a jarring tonal shift, it feels too happy all of a sudden. I also think the chromaticism in the bass line could have been introduced better. It felt off at first. But the track is still really solid! I like the sound design a lot, very playful!
Mal-function goes back to the darker tone the first track introduced us with, and the little sound design thats very technical really helps sell the world and vibe. The percussion that comes in is super intriguing, but it feels like it's building to something! I wanted the song to turn into something more energetic, with how that perc made the song feel. Great job overall though.
UPROOTED - This one is fantastic. Some of the most unique stuff I've heard all jam. Sudden tempo and time signature changes giving a strong feeling of uneasiness and the main melody that comes in only furthers that feeling. But the middle is super interesting as the melody completely switches tone, only to slowly turn more sinister just a few moments later. The sound design is very reminiscent of celeste, and the track's switchups and sudden subverting of expectations were genuinely sublime. BUT it NEVER was unwelcome or jarring. It always stuck the landing with every ambitious turn. Huge props on this one.
Sheni was really interesting in the percussion department, I really love how it evolved over time and the sfx did an incredibly job immersing me into the world of the game. Pretty great stuff! I wish the melody was more ear-catching, as it didn't do much for me. But the percussion and sound design make up for it entirely. It's a really well made piece and one that feels very very sci-fi. Really good stuff.
REM - Great as well, the arpeggios and bass were really catchy, and held my attention a lot more. I found the organ to be a bit jarring, and can't say I'm a fan on it's inclusion. I also think it's melodically bland as well. But the first half of the song is super great.
There were points where the melody lost me, other points I stopped what I was doing as it really impressed me. Specifically, the moments leading up to the first minute mark feel a little dissonant and like they're going nowhere, but right afterwards, you get this really intriguing line and rhythm from 1:20 to 1:40. The second track is super mysterious, and I think I'd enjoy it a lot as a backing track to some peaceful exploration. That being said, I don't find that this soundtrack, sonically, fits super well with the images given. I realize that might be THE most subjective and hard to pin down thing about the whole jam, but personally I imagined more of a forest type area. The songs were enjoyable though! Definitely a good listen.
As someone else put, it's really refreshing to hear some drum and bass when most people (including myself, somewhat) took a mostly orchestral route. The vocal samples are super clean and I love the energy the track brings! Super catchy and ear grabbing. Definitely feels like something that would belong to the Neon White soundtrack, which I love!
The saxaphone in the middle as a sort of B section was a nice surprise, and the progression of the track remains super enjoyable throughout !

Really solid, the first two tracks' transitions and energy are incredible ! it sort of reminds me of the same epicness and sweeping scores of mario galaxy, and this only continued into the second track, which had some synths that are very reminiscent of that game. I love the mix, the variety of instruments create this otherworldly feel that kept me engaged the whole way through. It's simply magical.
The 5th track was a bit of a head scratcher, not because it's bad but because the melodies seemed more inspired by something like owl city or other early 2010s pop acts. It still had me imagining the same sort of world attached, and it definitely fits thematically, but I wasn't really a fan of the jarring switch up, nor did it do as much for me as the preceding tracks.
Track 6 picks back up with the same things I loved about the opening cuts, however I do think the sine wave synth got a little repetitive after hearing it so much. I also felt like the bass was incredibly weak, in the opening orchestral section. It does pick up but I still felt like like low end was a bit too high-passed on some percussive elements.
A Tale's End was really pretty, a soft closer to a fantastical score of music ! I really enjoyed the whole thing. Incredible work !
really appreciate the thoughtful and lengthy reply ! The fourth track's sudden shift was meant to represent to me, the uncovering of something unknown, something the protagonist doesn't see coming ! I'm really happy u enjoyed all the tracks and I'll try to give yours the same treatment :p thank you for all the kind words !
I feel like this would make a good hubworld track, but it definitely felt padded out and repetitive. It fits the theme of the jam well and definitely would fit in some scifi setting, but it doesn't justify it's 4 minute length. I had a really strong impression of the world it was trying to convey, and I think you pulled off the soundtrack feeling really well.
By far the most interesting and fun game I've played so far. Gameplay was genuinely engaging, and the turn based style managed to be innovative and unique. I will say there could be better feedback on the gameplay, for example selecting magnifying glass, than the organ you want to select, took me a bit to figure out because nothing happens when you click on the item. But great game none the less.
it did make me feel scared but the audio balance was jaring and the visual design + high mouse sensitivity made it impossible to tell where I was. I constantly got lost because the mouse sensitivity was so high and everything looked the same. The atmosphere was pretty damn scary though and I respect how it all came together to be bigger than the sum of it's parts.
