Something similar had happened to me but I solved it by deleting the file and downloading it again but if that doesn't work for you I recommend you try the ZScripter app (it's in the App Store, I also have an iPhone) literally it allows you to do all the functions of Renpy and I think it gives you more however the bad thing is that it is in Japanese so you will have to translate what some buttons say and that's it. I use it when Renpy doesn't work for me or there is a problem and it works very well.
