Shapeshifting = Forest > kill all slimes

Minions = *before attacking village* talk to villager 

Craft Holy Hand Grenade = ally with goblins + return necronomicon

The games branches are blanced in terms of power gained, so if you are missing something, look in the branch with missing power.
wolves+goblins  ~~ elves          

return necronomicon ~~ use necronomicon 

 The fairy and tower  branches however have a clear best choice.

Use generator.
Talos > Dam > Satori (possible after learning Talos > Larion > Dam > Satori).

Satori > Astrape > Dam (grind Astrape - Dam back and forth).

So the shortcut is useless for now because by the time you can take it you have finished the game.
