Just picked this up earlier. Here are my initial thoughts on just tinkering around with this today:
Love how smooth the interface feels. I've tried a couple of other visualizers and this is by far the smoothest one yet. It's very clean, clear, and when one of my project's chapter's imported, it wasn't laggy. Very impressive! Very easy to jump right in when making a new project!
However, Although I think that the importing is fine, it isn't clear the order of operations/steps needed in order to get the characters, variables, and specifically images working properly. Clicking settings, then putting in the game file, then importing that, then saving and going to the image registry, scanning, then importing script. It wasn't clear that this is what needed to be done, maybe that could be cleaned up, or, at least be explained more in a step by step way/made more clear.
I also found that when importing a project, i would have to click each image node and reselect for it to find the correct image. I do get why it does this. The new images have the "prologue p1c1s1" while the imported have the old "p1c1s1", so its looking for the new name while it currently has the old, hence why clicking on the name again in the node description fixes that. just thought i would mention it.
hot keying a scene then selecting from the gallery is very nice, this improves my speed by SO much (especially since the gallery stays up)! I do wish that the gallery can be accessed without clicking on a node (unless it can and Im missing it), and then from there dragging in a image would then automatically create a scene node, but that's just me liking quality of life stuff.
Speaking of quality of life, I wish that when inserting a node on a line between two nodes, it would automatically intersect and connect it all up without the user needing to delete the wire and then hooking everything up manually.
Another thing is that for conditions, since I have a lot of them, it would be nice to have an autofill list similar to visual studio pro. I don't have nearly 50+ variables memorized so this would be nice!
all in all so far, I think this is a fantastic addition to my work flow, specifically with the images. For right now, I don't see this replacing my coding work flow in visual studio pro, but I will definitely use it, in theory, to work along side VSP.
current flow I can envision: Rough draft for images, dialogue, conversation layout in InViNode --> export out and copy code to/from Visual Studio Pro as I see fit.
Looking forward to getting knee deep into this and seeing how this can work in my current work flow. Looking forward to the future updates! Good job so far Draw Flesh Games team!
Edit: This is for the 2.10 version. Will have a try at the 2.13 version
