Looking at this, I instantly get the feel of a magical boot of spells, just waiting to be unlocked and explored. After leaving it running for a while, it really starts to kind of create a white orb behind the book that looks sort of like a halo, as all the space is filled up with white. Super amazing design and a concept that deserves further exploration!

This game acts as a great way to make people self-reflect, I think, as other people have said it clearly seems personal and sincere, and reading this short story about someone else can help make other people think about similar moments of their own lives. The setting is also calm and helps to invite the player to think more deeply, really a wonderful game!
The start of the game being a normal routine really helps set up the game to be rather unsettling, as it makes you think about how, if the world were ending, most people probably wouldn't even notice at first. I enjoyed that there were multiple pathways to take, and I had fun finding all the endings.
The combination of the descriptions and images really sets the scene and helps the player get a better feel for the environment they're in. I always enjoy post-apocalypse type games, and this one definitely does a good job demonstrating just how cutthroat and dangerous that kind of world can be, with every man out for themselves. I do think it's an interesting choice to not actually give us an opportunity to use the axe, but I suppose guns do beat axes.
The combination of the music, visuals, and sound effects really come together to create the perfect introspective setting, letting the player move through the different poems and think about what they could mean. Each line fits together with the other options, managing to create so many different potential interpretations.
One of my first thoughts after eating the cake and dying shortly after was “The Cake is a Lie” from Portal. I was tempted and fell for the trap of the delicious pastry. The world building just via the background for the most part is really well done and gives the player the feeling that they are in the actual location even if they’re only interacting via text.
While the game doesn’t function entirely as intended, the concept it presents where you have to take care of a baby that will react in ways you cannot predict feels realistic. It reminds me a bit of A Day in the Life (https://bricksy.itch.io/a-day-in-the-life) in the way it tries to simulate a real scenario you might find yourself in.
This game really gives me the feel of the sci-fi games where something escapes confinement, though in this case it’s you escaping, or trying to at least depending on your choices. The mechanical and automated nature of the interactions with your character really give the feeling of a world far in the future.
While played off in a somewhat silly way via purple crystals growing on people, I appreciate the take on the water being poisoned and causing infection as it can be quite a serious. The fact there is multiple endings it’s really nice to encourage exploration, although at times it feels a little hard to figure what which choices actually impact the story.
