normal people can make mistakes like that too 😭

OH MY GOD PLEASE THIS WOULD BE PEAK

(4 edits)

This is really good! I had a blast playing it, and I can definitely say for certain that this is one of the best NSFW games out there. The gameplay is fun, it's replayable, the skills are fun, and there's a lot I could go over that I really like about it.

One of my main critiques about this game though is the balance, and this is a relatively minor thing. The NPCs are kind of weird to fight as they can jump around and hit you at really weird angles sometimes, and in large group fights it can start to get unbearable, especially with the possibility of being dazed. If groups being difficult to manage is intentional, then I will say you definitely did a good job though. It's not too frustrating to fail either (not referring to a gameover), and the way you can get certain curses or achievements by losing in this way is a really unique mechanic that has a lot of depth in a really cool way.

The main issue with this though is that if you lose to a separate monster because you've made a mistake, it can be really punishing, as you'll lose pretty much all the "long-term" curses you've built up over your character. (Which, speaking of, please add a proper method or mechanic to keeping specific ones hat are interesting, such as Draining Kiss. LET US MIX AND MATCH)

Expanding on this, it can end up feeling really frustrating to lose your whole class and everything you've worked for just because you made a series of bad mistakes. I feel as though it would be better for the game to be more casual-friendly and lenient in that aspect.

If you do plan on keeping this in though, I feel like it should be a lot less difficult to get back to where you were, because other than your level progress, practically everything is reset on gameover. An example of a way to fix this would be out-right removing the cost to revert to your previous curses, as saved in the hot spring. (I also noticed it said "Debug", which I don't think it should be. This would fit better as an actual mechanic in the game.)

Moving onto game balance, there's honestly not much I have to say other than some of the monster girls are overtuned, so I'll just fill this section with a couple ideas or ways to make certain skills feel more rewarding. First up is the scratch ability with the catgirl class. As of right now, beyond the cosmetic feature of stripping the target, it's pretty much just a glorified normal attack with less range. The best way to buff this would be to simply make it deal 2 damage instead of 1, as that would make it much more rewarding to use, and also add more incentive for adding more of it at the end of each room.

Another minor buff I feel like would make sense, make the "Embrace" ability with the ram outfit actually heal. Functionally, it subdues an enemy, acting as a replacement for the push ability when you're occupying the same space as an enemy. This stuns them and moves them to an adjacent square where you can attack, but the Embrace ability kind of just flinches them and SOMETIMES moves them adjacent. The main use for this though is the "pacify" type ability, where it makes monster girls friendly if you use it enough. I'm not sure what the exact number is for each monster girl, but I believe it's based on their HP, which I feel like is a very unique way of implementing it, however, this ends up being functionally useless against most monster girls with higher HP pools as you have to embrace them multiple times over to get the pacify effect. So instead, I think it should deal damage. This would basically allow you to attack in the same space you're in, which is usually unavailable entirely. The difference would be that killing a monster girl via embrace would subdue them, and it would remain "undamaging" if the monster girl is already passive. This way it would remain useful and act as a helpful utility, while also keeping its special effect. I also think it should heal on-"kill".

... It would also be helpful if there was an option to move into the same space as a monster girl, as that would make skills like Draining Kiss (or embrace) much more efficient.

But yeah. I very much enjoyed this game, and am definitely looking forward to future updates! This game has a lot of really cool stuff that separates it from a lot of other games, and it has insane potential, not to mention where it is now. I'd rate it a 9/10, only deducting a point from a few nitpicks previously mentioned before, as well as the game remaining currently unfinished as of the time of this review.
