Wtf is wrong with the first comment. They clearly never touched an ARPG
I have a few experience with PoE and I'm happy to see some systems (resistances, normal/magic/rare/unique rarities) from it. As for the game itself, as I write this I've reached T2 rifts and I feel like finding the right balance in your build is rewarding, but it could be more visual maybe.
For example, in my attack speed built, I've noticed that the last node of the top path in the passive tree actually removed attack speed, so when I unselected it, the character actively attacked faster, good feedback. However for resistances, since nothing tells you what enemy hits on what damage, I didn't felt specifically tankier until reaching rifts even when I tried to balance my resistances.
Having the cobat log tells you what kind of damage killed you, or a recap of the amount of damage you've taken during the past x minutes, or even displaying what damage enemies inflict when hovering them could be a good thing in my opinion.
As for crafting, I feel maybe the ressources are given a little soon ? I mean that rifts introduce currencies, but since there's no button to use them until you get auto-crafter (from what I read in "?" and the absence of crafting buttons in inventory or character tabs), why displaying them so soon. Maybe i'm picky but I fell like it's saying "Hey look, you unlocked new content, you'll earn things to upgrade your stuff that you can't use, how great !"
Also Unique items i've collected have no affixes,so there's literally no reason on equipping them at the moment.
Other than that, it's good to be able to respec at anytime, experiment for free and not having to start the game all over, and the incremental style is correctly done in my opinion.
To sum up, the game is engaging enough to try to make you build something that works during the whole campain, but the end game is slowed by the fact you just have to wait to unlock auto-crafter to use any currency.
