Thanks for supplying a link to that download. I try to collect and archive roguelikes when I find them on an external harddrive, sort of like a gaming library and history of roguelikes past and present. If by chance you could upload previous versions from 1.0 onward to a mediafire folder, I would be very grateful, if not no worries.
Hi, I found a new bug and thought I'd post it here instead of creating a new post. When I start the game and a message popup appears that reads press any key to continue, I've been left clicking the mouse to close it, however, I recently tried pressing keyboard keys and found that didn't work. Pressing keyboard keys such as: enter, spacebar, the letters a through z, etc.. did nothing on that popup screen where it says press any key to continue, in the end I had to left click the mouse to progress further.
Hi, thank you for replying to my post so quickly.
1) I'm using Windows 11 so that might be the issue, I had less problems when I was using Windows 10 and regret that I upgraded to 11, which I know is not your problem. I deleted the install folder and manually deleted the %AppData% folder to make sure all the settings were clear before I did a re-install.. but it happened again as before as soon as I saved game, exited and reloaded game save.
I installed game to c:\Games\Roguelike\WizardSchoolDropout\
The %AppData% location was:
c:\users\user\AppData\Roaming\wizardschooldropout\
or
Windows start menu -> search bar for %appdata% -> Roaming -> wizardschooldropout
Where "user" is replaced by your username. I noticed that location stored the mods and saves folders as well as prefs.sav and stats.sav so I wanted to see if deleting those then doing a clean install would fix the problem. I thought something was either wrong in the saves folder or the prefs.sav file.. but like I said it happened again as soon as I saved, exited, then reloaded save. I'm stumped on this issue lol.
2) & 3) I didn't notice the delete button or the emergency teleports options during my first play through but I did notice them after you pointed them out; that is a relief to read because those were my two biggest gripes so those are scratched off the list.
Again, thank you for the quick reply and don't worry the full screen issue is minor and I will still play upcoming releases!
Hi, I've been testing out preview 4 and here are a couple things I've noticed that I either feel are missing or need fixed.
1) Toggle between full screen and windowed currently is broken. By default the game starts in full screen, so I changed the settings to windowed and then saved and exited the game. The next time I loaded game it started in full screen and the settings to switch to windowed no longer works.. pressing windowed just displays full screen. I'm hoping that is a bug that can be fixed, because I'd rather play windowed.
2) I would suggest the addition of a delete button next to each saved character on the load character screen. I thought I could kill my character off by standing in lava and pressing keypad 5 until he died then my save in the load character screen would be gone, but that was not the case as when you die it starts you back home.. so having a delete button next to each character in the load character screen would be a great addition for when we decide that we no longer wish to play a certain character.
3) I noticed when I tried to kill my first character off by standing in lava and pressing keypad 5 until his life went to zero that when I started back home a message popped up that said I was almost killed by a ghost.. which is not correct, I died in lava and there where no enemies around me at that time. I wish permadeath would be added at least as an option, so that two things happen: the character is deleted from load game screen and his/her true death is posted on a morgue screen. The morgue screen should at least display character name, cause of death, number of missions completed and amount of debt payed off.. or additional statistics.
These are merely suggestions, I've enjoyed the time spent in game and look forward to future releases! I've already decided to add it to my wishlist whenever it become available on Steam. I have many hours in Possession and I still play it whenever a new update releases!
Best wishes, and I hope you eventually talk on an episode of Roguelike Radio about Wizard School Dropout since they seem to have started releasing podcasts again in 2025.
