This was lovely. Dug the aesthetic, and kudos for the rad dithering patterns in the Rainbow Road bit. Did a second run-through to see if there were things I missed, and was pleased when I realized I could explore the Mario screen :)

Thanks for the write up, lots of cool insights in here. I liked how you had the main goals guiding the design, the final game feels really focused as a result. I've topped off at a high score of 261 so far!

haha thank you for asking! Because the game started life with some vague gravity-simulating mechanic, I thought of the four forces (electromagnetic, strong, weak, gravity... let's ignore electroweak unification). So I took gravity as the fourth one, and looked up different ways to say "four" in other languages. Latin turned out to be "quattuor", so I figured if I cut that in half and made it "ttuor" it'd make the title easy to google!
