Hi Sekki,

Thank you so much for the detailed information — it was incredibly helpful for the restoration.

Your save data has been restored on the server side. All you need to do is visit the game page:

https://into-the-abyss.vercel.app

Your data should load automatically when the page opens. No need to clear anything or use DevTools — just open the site as you normally would.

Here's what was restored based on your report and our server records:

- Equipment Level 6, ~10,000 Gold

- Tank: Mariana Snailfish (Lv35, +++), Abyss Seeker (Lv1), Abyssal Bloom (Lv38, +++), Void Walker (Lv35, +++)

- Max Depth: 11,700m, Total Expeditions: 139

- All milestones achieved, items restored (rations, crystals, etc.)

- Creature Dex: 41 entries, Junk Dex: 30 entries (complete)

One thing to note: while your dex totals (41 creatures, 30 junk) match your ranking data exactly, the specific entries in the Creature Dex are my best estimate — I don't have a record of exactly which species you discovered. The junk dex is fully complete (all 30 types), so that should be accurate. But some creature dex entries may not match what you originally had. If you notice anything obviously wrong, please let me know.

I also fixed the bug that caused this issue. It was a validation error where equipment level 6 wasn't recognized as valid, causing the save to fail on load. This has been patched, and I've added server-side backup systems to prevent data loss in the future.

Please let me know how it goes. If anything looks off or doesn't work as expected, just reply here and I'll take another look. Happy to make adjustments.

Sorry again for the trouble, and thank you for your patience.

(1 edit)

Hi Sekki, thank you for reporting this and I'm truly sorry for the frustration.

I investigated your account on the server side. Your ranking data (11,700m depth, 139 expeditions,

41 species discovered) is still preserved on the server, but the full save data — your creatures,

gold, items, and progression — was stored only in your browser's local storage, and it appears to

have been corrupted or cleared. When you refreshed, the game couldn't find valid save data, so it

prompted you to start over. I take full responsibility for this — relying solely on local storage

was a design flaw on my part.

Your account is still recognized as "Sekki" on the server, and I can restore your progress. If you

can tell me what you remember — your equipment level, roughly how much gold you had, which creatures

were in your tank (and their approximate levels), and any items you were holding — I'll rebuild

your save data and get you back to where you were.

I'm also going to implement server-side save backup so this never happens to anyone again.

Again, I'm really sorry. Losing weeks of progress with no explanation is unacceptable, and I should

have built this safeguard from the start.

Thanks for the heads up!

I'll tweak the early-game balance a bit. And just between us — your fish won't actually die from hunger. They stop at 1 HP no matter what. 🤫

Update: This is now fixed! New players start with a 5-minute tutorial expedition instead of jumping straight into an hour-long wait.

You'll experience the full loop — dive, wait, return, read the report, meet your first creature — all within the first few minutes. After that, expedition times ramp up gradually (15 min → 30 min → normal).

Your feedback directly led to this change — thanks again. Hope you'll give it another try!

Hi JanoschExe, thank you for playing ABYSS!

Gold can be obtained by selling junk items that your companion finds during expeditions. Keep sending your companion out, and they'll bring back various items you can sell.

This game does require some patience — it's designed to be a slow, relaxing experience. Please take your time and enjoy the journey at your own pace. :)

Also, I've recently added a tutorial expedition for new players. If you'd like to try it, you can reset your data from the settings and start fresh. The tutorial will guide you through the basics in a short expedition.

Happy exploring!

air point — thanks for calling this out!

I'm adding a short tutorial expedition (a few minutes instead of an hour) so you can experience the core loop right away. The longer expeditions will still be there, but now you'll know what you're waiting for.

Update coming in a few days. Appreciate the feedback!
