After all the feedback I found my mojo again and have now made a ton of improvements.
I've added Normal and Hard difficulty modes with separate progression tracking, implemented an achievement system featuring 25 unlockable achievements, and created a tutorial level to help new players learn the mechanics. The UI has been significantly improved with better text sizes and enhanced readability throughout. Various bug fixes have been addressed, and overall playability has been refined to create a smoother, more polished experience.
Thank you for playing and thank you for your feedback. That was a lot, but I agree with most of it. Sometimes I run out of time, or as in this case, my inspiration runs dry. When that happens, I usually submit what I have and make an improved version after the jam ends. In the upcoming version, there's a tutorial mission as well as many other improvements that came in as suggestions.
My goal with REGROWTH was to build a small strategy puzzle game, something that required actual planning rather than just trial and error. Each level should feel like a problem with a specific solution, where the placement of your tools matters.
The level design was 100% human-made, and honestly the hardest part of the whole process. The code and mechanics were 100% vibe coded with Claude as my collaborator. I directed, Claude executed.
This is far from a finished game. Think of it as a playable prototype.
Nice 3-page review of the game+expansion in Retromagazine (page 90-92):
