Yeah. I discarded those ideas since they kinda go against the spirit of the game. It'd be easy, but kind of trivial to stick with one full feral TF like that.

If you really want to, the best I could think of still doubles the amount of art needed—

You could have a setting to do anthro or feral. If you made it just visual, it'd allow you to have feral parts while not increasing the complexity of the actual game since it'd be closer to an asset swap than anything else and there wouldn't need to be too many changes in the code. That way, you could have mixed parts, but they'd all be feral / quadrupedal. You'd probably have to fiddle a little bit with some species like human or succubus— It might be better to flag that some specific parts can't be feral and just switch to anthro until you lose the illegal parts. (For example, human torso and legs)

I kinda want to ask if there's any hope for feral TF, since you've been experimenting with that lately— But I really can't think of any decent way to implement it that doesn't trivialize it and doesn't take a lot of extra work. :c

Yep, as a kitsune, I can confirm that's exactly all correct. :3 And hey, maybe once you get around to endings, you could clearly write the best ending... The one where you help your more experienced kitsune friend acquire their freedom... Then you'll have a roommate in your new shrine~

Well, of course... Being cute and fluffy is clearly an upgrade! And hosting a nice kitsune like that might have some side effects benefits... After all, who could say no to more fluffy tails~? And, it'd probably be easier to use any new kitsune powers without limit— Though, of course, your new friend is also very old and knowledgeable— The more integrated you get, the more they help you out by actively directing you. After all, why wouldn't you want to listen to the more experienced kitsune~? :3

Aaa, but that's the clever part... See, finding a useful minion is rare— Rare enough that one might want to change their plans with more of an eye towards keeping their new minion, as well as helping a bit with their lack of foxiness. No point in wasting resources by driving them crazy. :3

Is there any chance we'll be able to make Guide a permanent 'companion' later on? ... Assuming he stops trying to bad end us every five seconds.
