Going to recommend this to all of my chess-loving slay the spire buddies. What a great game!

these baldurs gate games are not my cup of tea, but this is extremely well made. very nice art style

Thanks for the feedback. I agree on all accounts. I'm planning to polish the game some more after the jam (actually working on it right now)

On the AI question: yes, I used Claude to write the code. I'm a web developer, not a game designer, so I built it in vanilla JS with no framework. Writing web code by hand these days feels like living in the middle ages, so I used AI to help me write it (I see it as a shortcut for googling and copy-pasting). But all the chess games are actual historical games, none of the levels are AI-generated, and every sound and graphic you see was made by a human (see credits).

cool game! I had to pretend I was bad at chess though :p

enjoyed every aspect of this game. Very nice game jam submission

Tricky. I found it a bit confusing that a piece that moves is not always the count, but apart from that very solid game!

my mouse was very happy with all the attention it got. nice tetris-inspired soundtrack.

Thanks for the feedback. I totally agree that letting the user know which moves are going to follow in a fun way is very important. now you can see the moves playing out, by hovering over the moves list on the right. but this requires the mouse. I think the solution might be having unlimited undo, so you can fail a couple ot times without failing the level, that way you learn the moves by trial and error.

i crossed the roads all the way to the end, didn't see any ducklings. Seems like a very unfinished game. I did very much like the graphics though!

great artwork

Pretty good!

That was fun! Some levels felt a bit easy, while others required some trial and error to figure out how it works. I almost gave up at 0, but I'm happy I found the final trick :) Satisfying little game. Good work!

I always love a good sokoban game. Clever use of the theme. one of my favorites!

Clever twist on the sokoban genre! It's a game I would definitely pay for if you could make it a bit more polished. Gameplay: 5 stars

Couldn't play the game because I'm on a mac, but the screenshots look very cool! Added it to my collection to play later when I'm on a windows machine.

Thank you! I'm happy to hear you managed to complete the game!

Thanks. Done :)

this is a super clever game that deserves way more attention! I had an honest "oh wow!" moment in level 2. Really dig the pixel art as well. Definitely in my top 10. Only thing I missed was being able to hold down the key to move faster, but still 5 stars on all levels!

cute programming game. I enjoyed it. great artwork and sound design as well! 40 robots for the first levels feels a bit much, but the ping ping ping sounds on fast-forward make it kind of enjoyable to watch it play out.

nice! gets a bit confusing with the crates though. not 100% sure what the goal is in level 3

great art and audio!

its superhuman to make such a great and polished game in only 3 days

thanks for playing! 8 carrots was my initial best, but then i realised you can play a couple more waiting moves in level 1. Still, I find it pretty impressive that someone actually made it trough the entire game. Congrats!

some pretty clever puzzles. good job!

thanks! and i agree on the reset. it was like that originally, with more puzzles. will change it back after the jam.

best stealth game since splintercell!

the enemy king just ate 2 of my pieces at once. This game should be forbidden! One can only tolerate so much silliness.

Chess meets slay the spire. Now that's what a call a good jam entry!

Thanks for the feedback! The hardest part is indeed telegraphing the moves to the player. You don't need to know chess notation though, you can just mouseover the notation and it will show you the exact resulting position of the pieces on the board

This is one of the best chess-inspired video games I've ever played. Also, best game jam game so far. Disclaimer: I really love chess

I like the idea. For me the gameplay would be more intuitive if I could move with wasd / arrow keys

Fits the count down theme nicely. Well done! If you give it some more polish I see it becoming a nice little mobile game I would play on the toilet

what an elegant game!

Love the superhot vibe!

cool idea!
