Thank you for the very detailed review! I understand most of your complaints except you saying I should have added healing out of battle. You get fully healed after every battle, so I found no use to add healing items outside.

Did you notice the other healing spells you got at the start of every dungeon? There was a message that said you earned it at the start. If you were only using the mint heal, that would definitely be rough lol.

I worked very hard on creating my own music and graphics, so the time for sfx \ custom animations was running very thin. I can see how that was a bummer. This was simply due to the nature of the contest and being a one man team haha.

Thank you again for the review, I appreciate all of your feedback and hope you had fun playing my weird game!

I came into this not knowing what to expect at all... and what an awesome experience it was! The unique art for the characters and world caught my eye instantly. It really stands out compared to anything I've seen here.  There are neat little effects scattered through the entire game that really add to the overall atmosphere.

The music is unsettling and bizarre which help add flavor to story. It's really well chosen and carefully placed. The battles can take a while, but that isn't a problem because the game doesn't overload you with them. They all have a purpose and I loved the enemy art. Nothing seemed unfair or overly hard to me.

The story takes you on a wild ride that can be very disturbing in a good way. It doesn't hold back at all and goes places some games would never dare. There wasn't a moment of dullness throughout the entire game. The characters all played important roles and it all concluded very nicely.

I'm glad I came across this and hope you do well in the contest. This is something I will remember and I look forward to possible bigger projects from you!

I was a tester for this game, but I feel like I should write up a small review for this:

I have played all of zDS' IGMC entries from over the years (Even made one with him lol), so I knew right off the bat I was in for a treat. I can safely say that amythical is the most polished, most balanced entry to this contest he's ever made. His experience really shows and surely helped him make this in a month.

The game wastes no time throwing you into an unsettling situation involving a god and three people he trusts greatly. All three of the characters have unique personalities and battle styles which lead to fights being very well put together.  The kicker here is you have many choices to make throughout the game, which gives the game a wonderful amount of different strategies to use. Strategy and replay value. I finished the entire game three times and it felt different every time.

The pixel art is top notch and crafted with care. Each enemy stands out (The leprechaun is the best) and you almost feel bad if you choose to not spare them. But that's your choice to make, so my first run I killed every single one of them. I found out that vastly changed my experience while on my second play. Going back to the pixel art, the areas stand out and give off a sense of fear hanging around every corner. I really liked the color choices which fit the feeling of the game perfectly.

The music is a high point of the game and never misses its mark. You can tell a lot of effort was put into it. The FM synth choice gives the game a classic feel that fits the mood and theme wonderfully.  Walking into the city area for the first time and hearing the music pump you up really encourages you to move on in the hostile world. The same thing can be said for the battle themes. It all meshes together to enhance an already great experience.

The game never wastes your time. It is an hour of well written story, fast battles and fantastic music. It goes by quickly and makes you want more. That's why I think the choice system was a great addition that will make you actually replay to see the changes. Excellent work as always and I feel this is a top entry that everyone should give a shot.

I just finished the game and I want to leave some of my thoughts here:

- I really loved the pacing of battles. They never took long and were not overly complicated.

- The mapping was extremely well done and had little secrets to pick up everywhere. I loved checking every little nook and cranny.

- The story and characters were varied and were never dull. Every single character had a distinct personality. I enjoyed The Reaper greatly lol.

- The skill tree and passive skills were fun to learn and equip.

- Very nice retro style. Nothing seemed out of place and everything fit the world.

- Nice choice of music. Every new area set the tone with encouraging themes. Same for battles.

This was a wonderful experience and I hope you do well in this contest.  Your team made something very inspiring in a month! Great job!

Thank you for the kind words. I appreciate the feedback and am glad you enjoyed your time with my game. :)

Thank you for playing! I'm really glad that you could have some fun.

Most enemies have certain weakness. For instance, one could be weak to a throwing weapon and another could be weak to a swinging one.  The emotions that raise def or attack for a few turns are incredibly important as well.

Anyway, thank you for the positive feedback. It makes all the hard work worth it!

Thank you for playing and reviewing. I appreciate the feedback and am happy you could have some fun. Its pretty hard to balance a game and make it in one month, so I can understand that you had some design complaints haha. I'm really happy that you played through my strange game and hope you choose the other paths someday.

To answer your question, I created all the graphics and music myself, so its all custom.
