Your game was really fun and original. The tutorial was perfect for a difficult game like this. I did better in the game than the tutorial. It was also spooky when doing sonar and then you saw the ghost creeping up on you. The only thing that didn't seem quite right was the audio quality. The sound was clipping bad, I don't know if it was because I was playing it in the web browser. Great job!

Was wondering what people thought of my game prototype? https://professor-plum.itch.io/off-the-record

This game looks really cool, can you  put instructions in the description so I know what to do. Thanks and I look forward to playing.

I think the idea was good. I'm not sure how to play, I couldn't read the instructions because they were halfway off screen. But I noticed that the trash items had a colored tag and if you pressed the same color button (Y,U,I,O) the tag would change color and sometimes the trash would disappear. Most of the time the trash just stuck to me. Great effort though and nice implementation of the special object. What did you think of my entry?

After trying several games that wouldn't even load, this game actually isn't that bad. I liked the shooting of the music notes. I'm not sure what some of those pickups were, they looked like soap or pez candy, but by the look on the character's face after he got them, i think they were xanny bars! What did you think of my entry?

I enjoyed playing and will definitely be playing again.  It has a great mix of obstacles (moving/ falling platforms, jump walls, breakable walls, spikes, etc.) that are just challenging enough to keep you wanting to play. I'm glad there are checkpoints. And I have to say the music alone is awesome! I love to hear a guitar shredding. The movement of the character was smooth and fluid, and felt good. However, I don't agree with the choice of keyboard keys. Using R for attack was awkward, as well as using L Shift for dash. The dash feature was a great part of the game, especially when you fell from high up and thought it was all over, you could dash and use double jump to save yourself. I would have been more successful if I didn't have to use my left pinky finger.  I also liked the end level challenge but it was too easy. I would have liked a longer stage of that and faster and more challenging, but it was great to break up the levels with something different. Great job with the game! What did you think of my entry?

I'm glad you enjoyed the game. The game was made for a game jam and it is unfinished due to running out of time.  So, there is nothing to do other than what you see. If you bust up the ATM machine, it drops money. I was going to have it so you were able to pay the police a bribe to get away and then the police would arrest the snitch.

Thank you for your comments. It is greatly appreciated. I definitely see what you mean. I would have liked to add alot of other aspects to the gameplay, but time would not allow.

Nice game! The only thing I see that needs improvement is the camera clipping when you get near a wall, you can't see the play area. Here is some code that might help.  https://hastebin.com/fudabowoha.http

Thanks! I will look into the glitch. I tried to make a cool down sys for throwing but  just ran out of time to perfect it.

So Warning.....I forgot to comment in the code to quit the application. If you download and play my game, the quit button will not work and you will have to Ctrl-Alt-Del, Task Manager, to EndProcess. You can get the newer version here Black Hole Skills Challenge - GameJolt.com.

I don't think your game is one he is talking about.

They will be getting 58% of the prize pool. Just saying.

Is there any clarification on the disqualifications mentioned by Asif in the video?

Also, I think the ratings system is appropriate considering one of the goals of the jam is to "grow the Shacknews community." It would make sense (from the point of view of the people putting up the prize money) to have participants compete with each other by getting friends to sign up.

Changer was not one of the games that was disqualified by Asif so please give a 13-yo kid a break.

I don't think the issue is the ratings. I think some of us are just confused because Asif disqualified some entries based on not following the theme, and based on that they seemed to be games already made but reskinned for this jam, based on that they charged for the game during ratings time, and one based on that there was no game available to play.

Looks awesome, but what are the controls? I've got Q W E R making sounds but that's all.

Thanks! I totally wish I had more time, or managed time better, whichever applies, lol

GTA with Chibi characters!!!

Thx

Those are all great ideas. I wish I had more time. I had a barrier to hem the player in on the ends but left them disabled by accident. I was concerned about being to evil that's why I didn't allow you to attack the snitch or the police. I was planning on letting the player run between the buildings and then have another virtual cam with dolly so you could run the length of the rear of the houses. But I couldn't get the clearshot vcam to flip the way I wanted. There you could hide from the police, the meter would slowly decrease, and there would be an enemy back there you would have to fight in self defense. The ATM gives cash but there is no UI for it. I was gonna use that to bail out of jail instead of ending the game when the cop pistol whips you.

Actually, not much time was spent on the art - the assets are free assets from the Unity Asset Store. Most of my time was spent on hooking the character animations up, the vehicles, the AI, the cinemachine camera, dolly track, and getting the interactables to work properly. I have a full time job so I only had so much time to spend, and I'm learning it all self-taught. What you see involved 20 scripts & 900+ lines of code.  For me, that's an accomplishment. But, I get  what you're saying, there is no gameplay, no score, and no win condition. Next time will be better.

Great game! I'm glad you were able to submit it.

Great game! It was fun to play, but I'm not sure I'm comfortable having mosquito allies, lol. Hey, if you have a moment, will you try out my game and maybe give it a rating? Thanks!

Nice entry! Great visual and audio. I had to think a little while for some of the choices, lol. If you have a chance, will you play my game entry and give it a rating? It would be greatly appreciated.
