Essentially yes! If you did badly or just okay you can take a risk and make it a success. The flip side of course being if you got a neutral result, used your skill and it bombed well...Now you have a failure. Your skill will also impact your writing. If you pick Brainiac and you got a success you likely won't write "PC saved the day by princess carrying the LI out of the building!" I hope you have fun trying it out!
