I love when I song sounds like its title, and you definitely did that here

Unlike the other comments I don't see an issue with your album art. Also, I think the song is actually really great! Maybe just a little too "busy" for background music, but that's just personal preference.

This is a great example of video game background music! This would make me want to buy the soundtrack to the game!

It fits the theme well but could definitely use some polish

I've never met a beet more ambient! haha. But seriously, really nice work.

Hey thank you for watching the video! And for listening to the song of course. I use a programming language calledChucK. I actually wrote a blog post about it if you are interested :) But to summarize, the drums are from a Yamaha RX-5.

The synth behind the melody is a 4-operator FM synth patch mimicking a honky tonk piano, "wired" with all modulators stacking. That's part of what gives it such a weird gritty texture.

Cozy vibes!

It's a little short... And it doesn't loop cleanly. I would definitely suggest adding some percussion elements. But other than that it sounds original and definitely gives of retro vibes!

Wow, very impressive! Amazing work.

This is great work!

Wow, good catch! Yes, they are indeed kalimba sounds! I found them here. I really appreciate you taking the time to listen. I don't know the game Lisa, but now I'll have to check it out! Glad the music reminds you of something somewhat meaniningful.

Nice job! It definitely has retro farming sim vibes. reminds me of harvest moon

I'm impressed by this composition. You definitely have music training and a lot of talent!

Definitely could use some polish, but overall it definitely fits the theme and is an enjoyable listen.

I love the names haha.

Hey all,

I must say I am very impressed with the submissions for this Jam. There are a lot of talented folks in this community. I haven't yet heard a song that I didn't think was at least pretty good.

This was a very interesting and different challenge for me. I wrote a blog post about it here: https://pots-and-pans.itch.io/a-jam-for-a-jam/devlog/1462439/making-a-jam-for-a-...

Anyways, congrats to you all on the excellent submissions!

I really enjoyed listening. The vibes are cozy for sure. Definitely bonus points for the album art!

Thank you! The audio may have been due to this https://github.com/karl-zylinski/odin-raylib-web/pull/14 but the PR was merged and I implemented it in my game. It actually may be a bug in my ChucK code, hate to admit it.

Thank you for playing!!

Was this metadata we were supposed to add? I used raylib and aseprite, I can't figure out these fancy engines!

I love the dungeon crawler genre, and you did a great job implementing it here!

For some reason this reminded me of a minigame from Mario Party. So this was a "Double Dejavu" haha. I thought it was great. Congrats!

This is a really fun game. Very cozy. I can see myself playing this a lot.

I love the "glitch" concept!

This has nothing to do with the theme

Great job on submitting your first game! I'm impressed by the artwork, what did you use?

My advice would be that theres way too much text onscreen in the beginning. I don't know where to start reading. People these days have really short attention spans so a clear, easy tutorial is crucial.

Thanks! the color masks on the hit animations is one huge benefit of using Raylib

Thank you!!!

I am fascinated by the success adictiveness of Brotato. Thanks for playing!

I love it! I also had the exact same thought, but a completely different implementation! I love that I can also view the controls in the game. Nice one!

(1 edit)

Nice job! And honestly, I love the artwork!! Also the game's page is impressive.

I think this is the most creative submission to a game jam that I've come across so far, and I've seen a lot of good ones!

The idea is not bad, but needs some polish.

This game is pretty masterful, especially considering the time limit. I couldn't beat it, but I had so much fun playing.

Bravo!

Please see my post here

Hopefully this will make it easier for players to test!

Thank you everyone!!!

This is really good for your first game. I can tell that you put a ton of effort into it! Keep making games!!

Thanks! Odin is a really awesome programming language. I love learning about new tools too. One thing I'm not quite used to yet is the level of control that lower level programming gives you... that's probably why you get some screen flickering when the textures load. I'm still learning how to render graphics optimally, but there aren't any memory leaks that I've observed or anything like that. I am working on making a web version now.

Thank you so much for playing!

Hi thank you so much!

Oh no, I hope your eyes weren't damaged from reading my horrible code! Ha!

I know its super important to compile for the web. My last jam submission was done with Odin and I did find a guide to compile with emscripten. I should have used it from the start, especially since I have no save files to write or anything like that. Oh well, I'll give it a try now and I'll be ready next time!

Thanks so much for your advice. And its really nice that you looked at my source files.

Cheers!!

Nice job! I'm impressed with how much was done in the time frame

Can't play

Hi All,

I made a post about my submission and how I think it went.

It's great to be a part of this awesome community.

Great job everyone!

Still following the progress of this game and I have to say I can't wait for the official release! Also, the premise is eerily relevant given RAM prices these days haha.
