Did you take inspiration from shogi for the layout and the dropping?
I like the water current hazard the most. one use I found for it was shifting a bishop to a different diagonal.
Reminds me of mini shogi
I like how the extra complexity fits naturally with the sci-fi theme. It really does feel like chess from the future.
