Even a hybrid between humanity's closest alive relative is hypothetical; yes, there were likely hybrids between Neanderthals and Humans, but we don't know for sure, and even then, they were EXTREMELY close species; something like a fox or a rat just isn't viable the as chromosomes are too different.
The creator of this game is a furry, and a fusion between human and animal is just scientifically impossible, and it'd honestly just look a little grotesque if it were realistic; I believe that the main character being cute and not physically adapted to the environment adds to the experience, because it makes you more attached to your lil fluffball.
Yeah, this game seems to have lots of ways to change emotional state, like seeing corpses, eating something yucky, going through withdrawal getting hurt, or even just sleeping on something uncomfortable will make your character sadder, while taking your time, eating tasty things, and consumption of drugs makes you happy. I'd imagine that also communication with the survivors makes you happier, I just never really checked.
True. It's just that we already have corpses outside of pods and survivors inside. Imagine if you got to see the other way around, like corpses within pods (which I think are hypothetically possible, just probably really rare) and survivors, perhaps bandits outside, since it'd make sense to see them outside since there are many corpses outside. But yeah, you brought up a big point.
I mean, the main character is an experiment. In gunsaw, it is stated that experiments are quite emotionally sensitive. Ngl, I'd feel the same way If i was in the middle of nowhere, underground, just forced to kinda... Dig nonstop and find stuff and deal with injuries myself. The point of the game is to show how hard the odds in such an environment is.
The inability to heal is chance-based, so if you keep trying to heal, unless your character is INCREDIBLY DEPRESSED, in which you'll be more worried about your character literally trying to worsen his conditions by harming himself rather than the inability to heal.
The best tip I can give though is to prevent depression, which wasn't likely entirely caused by your character suffering an injury. Looking at corpses, eating really nasty stuff like your own species' parts, and generally just not tending to your character's wants and needs can cause them to get depressed fast.
Stuff as simple as feeding your character geofruit, or really anything that seems tasty for that matter, and playing carefully as to not physically push your character too hard will easily help prevent depression.
Stopping depression is kinda different though. You CAN try to use geofruit or tasty things, but at that point you might need some assistance, not just from drugs, but also probably stuff as simple as looking for comfortable places to sleep and hypothetically, possibly some social interaction with survivors.
The depression system is really complex, if you have any questions, I can help you figure them out.
I mean, it makes you more attached to your character, which makes it all the more sad to see them meet their demise.
I hope there's eventually an option to choose a different start that grants you like, a class that could potentially have a purpose in lore which is to kill those who aren't going down, who begin with guns, at the cost of being specialized for shooting, thus gaining accuracy, at the cost of not having certain skills, resulting in debuffs such as not being capable of fastening tourniquets (and thus having to get an NPC to do it for you), maybe having a more simplified health menu to fit a targetting system (perhaps FOCUS from gunsaw?) or maybe even the inability to swim.
idk if you take suggestions or not, if you don't, completely understandable, but something cool that could be seen is perhaps like, a new type of ledge grabbing, where if your hands are free, you can press a button (maybe holding down the attack button?) to use your claws to latch onto a block, which will allow you to "stick" onto surfaces, but only for a certain period of time determined by aspects like nutrition and body mass, and if you attempt to stop a fall using it, you could fail and break your claws, with perhaps a differing degree of severity, from chips to snapping the claw off to a point where it can regrow to maybe having your distal phalanges dismembered, in which your claws will no longer function. Orso, if you are reading this, thank you for your time, and if you do consider adding this, only add as much as you feel like programming; i am an (amateur) programmer too, and i kinda know how it feels to just be overwhelmed by suggestions.
Heyo, I like your game! I wonder how much the full version will cost, also, here are some suggestions:
Perhaps a complex healing system? You probably already have a medical system in progress though.
Some species could a different ability than slow-motion, but nothing TOO crazy to keep the game tactical.
Last suggestion, maybe make it so that you get to use unarmed? It'd be cool to just grab, rather than levitate, although, the levitation mechanic is awesome, keep up the good work!
