I'm really glad you tried out the game and ended up enjoying it. The hope of IT growing and eventually finding happiness is a sweet one. Sometimes that hope is really all we can offer until someone decides to change for the better. It meant a lot to me that the idea of love being meaningless in an abusive relationship came through in the story and I'm glad it resonated with you too.
If I ever do a story like this again though, I'll have to go easy on the endings so the message isn't buried or lost X'D
I definitely agree with you about negative stereotypes forced onto cats. I did worry that especially I was reinforcing them for black cats that are often seen as unlucky. So it was really important to me that the kitten in the end looked similar to IT. Not just for the themes of personal healing after bad relationships, but because I wanted a black cat for a happy ending :')

It was originally supposed to be a short game with 5 or so endings to familiarize myself with Ren'Py, but then the ideas kept increasing until it became this XD
You'll have to delete the two Persistent folders (one the game folder and one in the computer system folder). If you only delete one or only the save files it won't work:
If you want to play again with a full reset, you'll have to delete ALL save/persistent data from TWO game files:
-- one in the folder where you installed the game
Delete ALL save/persistent data in the save folder
-- AND one in these platform-specific locations on your computer:
Windows: %APPDATA%\RenPy
Macintosh: $HOME/Library/RenPy
Linux: $HOME/.renpy
Look for the 'DoNOTTakeThisCatHome' folder and delete ALL save/persistent data in it
1: The game is fully complete :D Any updates are just to fix any issues that might pop up or to add translations for other languages if I can!
2: I'm working on a project right now but it's definitely going to take a while since I'm a solo dev + full time worker TTwTT
3: The cat's gender is meant to be however the player sees fit, just like with the Player character in the game. Some people of other languages have defaulted to male since they lack gender-neutral pronouns, but anything's fine :D
4: I made the OST using Beepbox. It was my first time making soundtrack music, but it was a lot of fun!
5 / 6: I drew nearly everything myself with help from references. The backgrounds I didn't draw myself were photos on Pexels.com that I edited using Medibang
7a: The player character? Can be anything the player wants :D
I listened to a lot of weirdcore music to make the ost and was also inspired by experimental / ambient music in games like Yume Nikki, Omori and Drakengard. It was my first time trying it so I'm glad you like it! I'm also really glad you like game's story and ending :D
