Thank you so much for playing and for the feedback!
I agree that the narrative around having to eliminate your previous self and the story overall is definetly something that is currently lacking in our game. Mechanically they work, but narratively they don’t fully justify themselves yet, we are planning to put some more work on the intro cinematic and adding more juice to the loop killing of yourself.
All the smaller points you listed are also on our radar to varying degrees, and it’s really helpful to have you call them out and reinforce some of the concerns we already had internally.
Thanks again for taking the time to write this up and for the kind words — and I’ll definitely check out your project as well!
Thank you for testing and for the feedback :)
Totally agree that the environment and the enemies don't feel alive yet which is something we are currently working on, hope that adding more moving parts, doing a lightpass & adding vfxs like gas, electrical sparks in the the environment will make it feel better!
With the enemies they have to have a perfect accuracy so that a miss don't unlock or lose you the perfect run, but with that in mind I want to make them feel less robotic by looking over their behavior and animations.
Sorry for the jumbo jet haha, was there any specific parts where the performance was bad? That would help us a ton while optimizing.
I'll pass along your praise to our sound guy, he's been cooking with the music <3
Here's my feedback (:
+ Nice level design, clear tutorial that's teaches you the basics and is also fun to play through. Fun levels that different and gets progressivly harder with new features.
+ polished menu with settings, credits and a button for wishlist! ( maybe move the wishlist away form the title so it sticks out more.)
+ Enjoyed the music and that you had more then one track!
+ The characters walking speed and air controll felt really good
- Controlls, WASD is great but the B&N didn't feel like a natrual placement for my hands, personally I prefer more space between them. Either add re-map in settings or move them to maybe , . or the numberpad
- Movment: The wall clinging often felt "irritating" when accidently sliding down, at the moment it feels to slow for my liking. Then also when jumping into walls especially during the early learning phase, maybe add some delay into the glide so that jumping upwards is more forgiving.
Really nice game keep the good work up!
Tested your game and played it—here’s some feedback (:
Pros:
-
The controls are quite “wonky,” but I enjoy them, especially the laser. I used it often to quickly move around.
-
It’s nice that you have VFX feedback on enemy kills and that enemies have SFX on their shots!
Cons:
-
The aim of the laser is quite hard to aim with and is offseted from the ui aim
-
The movement feels slow for a flying game. Even if the play area is contained and small, I still wished I could accelerate and go faster to reach new waves of enemies. Maybe add a boost?
-
Enemies are unclear. It took a while to understand what they were and how they looked, especially since quite a few clip below the ground, making them even harder to see.
Hiya! We turned our game jam into a new game called Rewindead — would love your feedback if you’re up for it 🙂
