Q1: Yes, you can get it right away. No items are required for that, just smart usage of Madeline's abilities. There's no reason to rush it though - the second seedbag isn't useful until you get some seeds for it :3
Q2: The chance is low for sure, but that's intentional. This game is more of an idle game than an active one, and it's best enjoyed while chilling out and listening to some music or watching something. If you just want to go for a high score, you don't need to fish for the super-rare catches - farming radishes will give you more than enough income to eventually max out the money counter.
Q1: Yes, you are missing an item to do that. Look around the map! As a hint, it's not hidden in the map expansion - you can get it right from the start of the game.
Q2: You need to fish up a something special to reach him. Don't worry, you'll know it when you get it.
B1: Not a bug! Try doing down+jump too :3
re: the smoothing, we changed the physics code to remove an off-by-one error in the vanilla game that causes the 'jankiness' of the movement; however, that normally completely screws up how the game plays. Meep actually wrote a genetic algorithm to find the closest possible physics values to the old code while retaining the smoothness, and it turned out nearly perfect. most of the speedrun tricks and setups from vanilla still work too!
congrats <3 if you're planning on attempting gemskip i'd highly recommend checking out the community glossary, it'll be a huge help https://celesteclassic.github.io/glossary/
The ost is on youtube now, if you're still interested! https://www.youtube.com/playlist?list=PLMrSGPfSt2PxIldACZB4tQjUGdFzw61rI
quite a few people have done it, you can check out the speedrunning leaderboard here and click the "trueskip" tab to view the runs! https://www.speedrun.com/celestep8mods/full_game#Foreverred
I'd recommend checking out the glossary, it explains things pretty well. https://celesteclassic.github.io/glossary/
It's possible, but it requires a lot of advanced speedtech (spikeclips etc). Wasn't made with casual players in mind, haha. Would recommend checking out the Celeste Classic Glossary if you're interested in learning more: https://celesteclassic.github.io/glossary/
