This is Slay The Spire X Pokemon. Incredible execution. I think you have some finetuning to do regarding the fonts and text/presentation, but yes this is a VERY fun game to play.

This game got me EGGstatic!

How do I get more bees? This feels and plays like a strategy game. Nice job!

hahaha unique is to say the least. Original! it's all looking well put together and even though the gameplay isn't really my fave, I did enjoy it. Well done!

oh no dude don't regret anything. Even mistakes wwill eventually give you thee conviction to change something and be more confident about how things turn out.
Add me on discord (peppa.chan). Next Jam or game you'll make I would love to playtest it and help you brainstorm/consider the things that would improve the playability with you. I'll help you with the music too.
Great job, great submission.

Ok, short! gameplay wise it was wayy too easy. you get into a flow of triple-clicking enemy heads and then  you get through it in no time. just a few levels and the game was done, too bad!
The pixel art is nice and makes me want to see more. Do more with this!

There's something to be said about games that deliberately choose to avoid complex art and go into the abstract representation. I am a fan of leaning into putting your time and efforts into the gameplay. The gameplay is fine, the tree looks like it could be promising once further developed, and the general feel of the game is satisfying. I would love to see this developed further, so let me give you some feedback of things that I ran into:

1. The way you have the start of the game set up can be improved. Your best aim is to kill the green things, so I'd say they would be the entry enemy to chase and kill. You should make it more abundant so you don't die at the start without having made any money. Ofcourse this would make it so that you acquire money a bit easier at the start, so you'd have to increase the prices a bit. This is general game balancing and usually out of scope for a Jam, so it's understandable this isn't perfect right now, but I hope you will put time into this

2. When firing your laser you seem to have to be pretty accurate. This provides a nice and fun challenge to younger, more capable individuals, as they will have less of a problem with it. To cater to a slightly older, and less-capable audience it's usually a good thing to make the collider box of an enemy sightly bigger than it's model, so that very-close misses would actually be counted as a hit. This way you take into account the decreased capacity to react of parts of your audience.

3. Progression isn't saved. It's easy to add a small package that can keep track of save states for you. If you use unity I can recommend "Easy Save - The Complete Save Game & Data Serializer System" as it's very easy-entry.

4. Your music is an irregular pattern of notes. If this is all you hear it becomes annoying quick. Add some stable, rhythmic percussion that the listener can "ride" on while enjoying the melody.

5. Even though you have the countdown big in the screen, for some reason I didn't understand why I was dying some times at the start because I was so focussed on evading the enemies. This is a good problem to have! Apparently I felt so immersed that even that big countdown slipped by me being so focussed on other parts of your game. I'd propose you add the reason of death to your death-screen.

6. Some nice fading transitions betweens screens would go a long way.

7. After playing for about 15 mins I encountered a bug where I heard the dying sound, but I still had 3.01 on the timer (Maybe I ran out of health? It was after touching an enemy). The game really slowed down, but the death screen didn't appear, which basically bricked my game and I couldn't get out of state state. There is no ESC-menu or something I can do to end the current run, so I had to refresh and then I lost all my progress.

Great job on your game dude. Really enjoyed it!

You even took the time tk animate things a bit. I love the style. The monster is both cute and terrifying. Well done

Yeah I get you! Thats what a Jam is for. You can be proud of yourself doing a project like this solo. really well done :D

Feel like this is inspire by the old zelda or Binding of Isaac. The charging feels slow, but other than that it's a fun top down dungeon crawler. Nice!

(1 edit)

ahaha the drum & bass caught me off-guard. Also found a bug. When you are holding the patties but open the cutting board, you're suddenly no longer holding the patties. OTher than that fun game! very cute. Art style looks amazing.

It's hard! I like the bottom just being the guy you play as, kinda fun and something you could do more with thematically. other than that it's a very decent platformer. a bit snappy perhaps

Yeah this is INCREDIBLY well made. Honestly love it. the blessings/curses feel a bit basic but  it's such a well executed game. Love it!

I am not typically a fan of these type of games, but I can enjoy it. Trying to find the combos had me pinch-eye-ing my screen like I am 85 years old. Loved the little details and ways in which you made every name unique through the presentation of the name. good little eye of detail.
For me personally it was just a bit too simple. I feel like maybe it would be fun if sometimes an ingredient would be out of stock andd then you'd have to refill it from the back, but maybe that would turn it into a stressful game too much. This was nice and casual. Good game!

Thank you so much. I immediately went and added a tagline, screenshots, and disabled the second fullscreen button.

Thanks for the thorough review... 41 minutes. You have no idea how much We appreciate it. I'm watching the full video right now.

Yesss thank you so much for your review. It was indeed hard to balance the difficulty, and wanting to show everything we had and providing a rich experience during the Jam. Thank you for taking the time to view our game.

I've had like 6 cops pile on me there was no escape >.<. Very fun. The game was stuttering for me a bit, but other than that I thought it was a very fun game. If I do have to nitpick I'd love the jump effectiveness a bit so you can really use it do  do something" like jump over a wall instead of it Yeeting you off the field. but really, well done :D

Lovely game,I've thoroughly enjoyed myself. You guys really aced the theme, and the timer really drove up the pressure. Only feedback I have is that it's too compact. I would like to see this developed further. 10/10!

If this game was made a decade before it would have been top rated on newgrounds for the whole year. congrats on the amazing game!

A bit easy 😅 but very enjoyable. I got a bit confused at the start so I think a tutorial would definitely help.

All I was missing was a pause button. Fun little platformer:D

I used to play Subspace/Continuum as a kid, so top-down space shooters have a place in my heart. fun game! I would have loved to see everything scaled down so the battle looks bigger though!

Fan of cookie clickers. Works well, but not very elaborate :')

The mechanic is novel and I love progression. Would have loved to see the fingers close a bti faster but that's just me. AWesome!

Was genuinely smiling over the mouth sounds. Fun game that finds it's roots in asteroids. I was brough up on the game subspace/continuum, so this hits home for me. Well done! (add ship classes! this can be such a fun game)

This made me feel like I was playing Gnorp Apoplogue. I think that games like these have tons of potential if they are developed with narrative. Instead dof just scaling to higher resources, make it so other things happen in the story. Make it diverse. I like it, continue on the game!

Not entirely clear, could do with a bit of an introduction, but nice take on a card game. Wonder if I could play this in real life?

Quite liked it. I feel like the charge bar could charge quicker, and the mid-air hops a bit higher, but it was definitely enjoyable. Well executed platformer.

Love the idea. 2D extraction platformer. Really akes me feel like oldschool punk NES style games. I was hoping reaching the quota would allow me to go back, spend my money, and take on bigger planets. Really well executed. Develop this further!

They probably hit, they just do 2 damage. We felt it would be OP if it could insta-kill enemies! Thanks for trying our game and your feedback!

Thank you so much for the kind words. We will! Chances are high Body Count Down might land in the playstore, and we definitely plan to make more games and join more Jams!

Wow... It really captures the Win98 vibe. the fact that it had a skill tree surprised me and made me enjoy it a lot. I did feel like the screen cracks at the start when you miss are a bit too big, and it's frustrating for me because I can't always click the bugs accurately. Nevertheless top rated this. I've never been sucked in by the vibe of a Jam game so much. I think this is what they mean when they say Narrative without a story. Hats off to you.

I've always been a fan of those mining-style games since motherload. Very fun. I feel like the rounds may be a bit too long because I want to purchase upgrades sooner? maybe. Had fun, thanks :D

Aaaah I didn't realize i had to shoot the boxes for more ammo the first time so I ran out. Really fun execution of the countdown theme. Never was a fan of reloading and I hated it even more now XD
