Hey thanks for the kind words, it was a lot of fun to work on. On reflection, it's written fairly poorly and I would have done things very differently if I had my time over, but that's the benefit of just having a go and seeing how it turns out.

Yes, those things will be coming. I tried to make most of the key bindings apparent from the buttons along the bottom of the screen but that’s incomplete, but there’s more to come in that regard. Same with UI scaling - hasn’t been a priority yet but it’s on my list.

I've just uploaded a downloadable build which works for Windows: https://patjw.itch.io/recreant/purchase. This version will have saved games and persistent dungeon levels enabled. If there's still an issue with the UI being too small, that might be an issue with your monitor scaling settings - I have the same issue with one workstation which is set up at 2x scaling and I haven't found an easy way to adjust for that automatically within Godot just yet.

What device are you playing on? I’ve had a few issues with that on different platforms but I had thought it was working properly for PCs at least. The web build is actually an after thought because it’s designed to be played locally, but this way is easier for updates.

Thanks for trying it out. Press “>” to go down stairs and “<“ to go up them. The game definitely needs documentation for things like that but that’s a work-in-progress.

Sorry, I didn't see this comment until too late. The reason for that is that the game is a packaged python script which is also apparently the way that some malicious people spread viruses and the like. I can tell you with certainty that the game is safe, but I'm just some guy on the internet so you might not believe me... I'm not sure that there's more that I can do about that without rewriting everything in another language.

Hi, that’s because it’s a python script packaged into an executable. Apparently that’s a suspicious way to distribute a program according to antivirus software. In this case there’s nothing to worry about and because it’s open source, you’re free to check for yourself! It’s a bit of an annoying issue to be honest, and I don’t think there’s much I can do about it.

Hi there, I’m glad you’re having fun with the game. Today’s update was actually a very uneventful one - just some technical changes to do with how the game compiles. There’s been a few more interesting changes in past updates and better ones to come than today’s, and unfortunately it wasn’t anything exciting today!

I’m not sure what you mean, I don’t and never have used Linux. I’m told that it works in Wine but I don’t know much about it to be honest.

Thanks for letting me know, I’ll fix it up.

The current version doesn’t have an ASCII version enabled but the workings of it all are still in place behind the scenes.

I’ll take a look at it this week and try and re-implement it through the new graphics library - hopefully it won’t take too much time! This version was just about getting out a working graphical build, and now that’s done I can think about other things. So expect the return of ASCII by next Saturday!

Hopefully you have fun with it! It's taken a backseat for the moment because I'm working on my other project, The Red Prison but there will probably be further development in the future!

that’s pretty much it!
