thanks for the reply!
'that is odd, the aiming is supposed to be analog 馃
for movement it only made things worse (it makes you walk slower than with keyboard)'
yeah, the aiming is analogue but the movement isn't is what I meant, but the point of analogue movement is you move slower if you just move the nub a little bit & at full speed when you move it all the way out & the stick hits the ring
'strangely enough the defaults are based on suggestions on the steam forums
I had no idea there is an accepted standard (or at least didn't found any)'
on console for instance, you'll find most games map primary fire to RT & alt fire to LT, so you can imagine my confusion when primary fire is LB

Hey, I'm a Steam Deck user & Zortch is super rad, but its gamepad support is kinda wacky. Analogue movement isn't supported, instead the game just translates the digital cardinal directions & diagonals to the left stick, & all the default mappings for everything else are very non-standard & really weird (e.g. LB to fire instead or RT). The game does let the user remap all buttons, which is good, & on Deck I've also got the per-game SteamInput API I have at my disposal, but yeah.
