Kitty! ^.^ :)

Thank you! The first swaying drunken sailor is supposed to be the hint on what to do (and the first mate's follow up explanation is a microtutorial), but I'll try to expand on that in the next version!

Very unusual concept with a cool execution.

Yes, that's intentional. The gauges only show the approximate amount of the change, but not the direction - sometimes you can derive it from the context, but other times, you just have to trust your piratey luck and swipe! Worst case, you'll find out a new way to die :)

(The "are you the Devil?" bit is an easter egg reference to the recurring catchphrase from the Reigns series that inspired this game)

Given that almost a third of the game's content is about death scenes, one could argue that dying -is- a core mechanic :) thank you for the feedback, I really appreciate it!

I loved the aesthetic.

after a few more levels the sand started looking strangely tasty. are we sure it's not secretly cake?

Looks great and feels fun to play without being too frustrating with its challenges. Thank you.

Adorable and fun to play.

I admit that I did a double take upon seeing "self shoot" in the controls, but thankfully it turned out to be a mobility tool and not a reaction to an overly hard level :D

Thank you!

We all need fans in these trying times.

Normally I get easily frustrated by puzzle games, but this one is very soothing.

I loved the tongue-in-cheek humor. The art style reminded me of early 2000s Flash games, in a good way.

I'm personally not a fan of charging for game jam games as it sets a barrier to entry against fellow jam participants.

A neat take on the classic formula. I particularly liked how you incorporated the candles.

My only complaint is the font size - it's a bit too goblin-scaled for my human eyes.

The rules said "no AI, none at all, just don't do it".

The game said "AI Assisted, Text".

so they failed to match :heartbroken_emoji:

а так, конечно, идея интересная

I can only see two screenshots, but no game (playable in browser or downloadable).

Too difficult for me, but that's probably a good sign.

Very impressive, but also too challenging for me.

Due to multiple emergencies, we were unable to finish the game as envisioned. The prototype version available for download contains multiple placeholders, most features don't work as intended, and the final boss is out of reach. We mourn what could have been and cherish what remains.

I'm a big fan of this fan.

Let me know which character you liked the most :)

At what point are we OK to start making further improvements to our submitted games, and is there a way to do so without messing with the grading or validity of our submissions?

I can think of so many possible improvements that had to be cut to meet the deadline, but I'm holding off on implementing those for now :)

My bank keeps going bust :(

The instructions are excellent. All manuals should be written like that.

1. Yes, and it was my first time making art too, so it was a learning experience :)

2. The bigger the dot, the more the stat will change, but you don't know the direction of the change.

3. If by Port Governor's offer you mean the 100,000 gold reward and hand in marriage, that was the bounty on -your- head that someone else got to collect :D. That's what happens when the Black Flag maxes out.

holy crap the ending

I made it to the end! Thank you for making this game, I enjoyed it.

Absolutely heartbreaking.

Awwwww.
