This was a really fun and well-made jam entry! The game is chill and enjoyable at the start, with the pace slowly ramping up until things get frantic later on. The concept of the goblin king constantly demanding food is both funny and engaging, and it ties nicely into the jam’s theme of expansion (especially when you start noticing the king himself growing).

What I enjoyed:

  • The music is calming yet fits perfectly, helping balance the panic of later stages.
  • The art and animations are great — I especially loved the animation of the food being delivered.
  • The recipe book, remembering the correct page, was a thoughtful touch and avoided unnecessary frustration.
  • Replayability is solid; it’s the kind of game you can hop back into for a casual run.
  • The ending was hilarious and satisfying (boom!).

Areas for improvement (if expanded post-jam):

  • The arrows showing the path from the throne room to the kitchen weren’t totally clear at first, though the animated “!” marker helped a lot once noticed.
  • The delivery system felt a little clunky, needing to press two buttons while the timer kept running, tripped me up a few times. Making it a one-button action (or pausing the timer after the first press) might smooth that out.
  • Later rounds rely heavily on RNG difficulty. Easy dishes can be beaten with time to spare, while more complex ones feel almost impossible as the clock shortens. Balancing that out would improve fairness.
  • Additional sound effects/feedback would be great (like bubbling noises, error sounds, or even a funny pot “face” when you get something wrong).

Overall:

This was a well-executed and enjoyable jam game. It looks and sounds great, plays smoothly, and nails the theme. With a few quality-of-life tweaks and more polish, I could definitely see this concept expanding into something people would keep coming back to. Awesome work!
