Well... I'm not going to say no...
But all in all it's got slightly more in the vein of FTL technically, but the final outcome is pretty different from both.
At the end of the day it is a fun game jam project that I'm glad turned out as well as it did (Curse you whoever let me do a game jam on top of regular dev!)

I'm a little unclear on what you are suggesting. I've tried to make the game as playable as possible. a lot of things have mouse over text, although this doesn't work on android. The things that don't tend to be self explanatory.
Obviously I'm not perfect and there will be things I don't notice, but I'm not sure the areas that need better labeling from your post.
You are definitely right.
While making the game I have been at constant odds with myself over having mysterious elements that reward exploration for the player, and then having a game that isn't a confusing mess to play. Ideally, we could have both, but the more and more time passes, the more I realise that my head is up my own ass and I need to put important progression information in the game. The moonstone guide is in the works but I just haven't gotten around to it yet.
Mr evil is correct, there are no plans to add the option for a female protagonist. While none of the actual relationships and vast majority of the text would change... the sheer effort in redoing the thousands of renders and hundreds of videos makes it untenable, not to mention coming through the entire game for tens of thousands of lines of gendered dialogue.
