To keep things fair for all participants, submissions that don’t follow the theme or don’t include any horror elements may need to be disqualified. We truly don’t mean this in a harsh way. It’s just a common issue in game jams, and we want everyone to have an equal chance when voting begins.
Rules Below:
- Theme Adherence: Your game must fit the announced theme and the overall genre of the jam (Horror, Gothic, Dark Fiction, etc.).
- Format: The game must be primarily a visual novel, interactive fiction, or heavily text-driven narrative game. Mixing genres (e.g., VN + Point-and-Click, VN + Survival) is completely fine and encouraged!
- Fresh Starts: To keep things fair, the core narrative, script, and code must be created during the jam period.
FAQ Upon AI Generation:
1.) Please ensure it is clearly stated that AI tools are featured inside your game please.
2.) I kindly ask that vibe coding or similar low‑effort AI‑generated submissions are not used excessively or spammed during the event.
3.) AI should be used as a tool to assist you, not to fully create your art, sprites, characters, or story.
I strongly encourage everyone to rely on your own creativity and personal ideas rather than letting AI do the core creative work.
What exactly wasn’t fun about it? I felt like the goals were pretty straightforward. You can honestly just focus on gathering the flowers and ignore the items entirely. I actually beat the game without them during playtesting. And just so you know, batteries only work when your sprint is running low, not when it's full.
I’m totally fine with criticism, it helps me improve... but it’s important to make sure you're actually using the mechanics correctly before judging them 😊
Hey everyone! I’m a programmer looking to start a new project, specifically a visual novel. Since my skills are strictly on the coding side, I'm looking to put together a team.
Right now, I need a 2D artist who can do character/background work (heads up: the game will feature blood/gore, so you'll need to be comfortable with that) and a narrative writer to handle the story. Drop your portfolio if you're interested!
