I checked some save files I had from the previous version and they work for me, I couldn't tell you why they don't work for you.  Also, you don't need to do the first area if you start a new game; you can go directly to the next area :)

I already fixed it, I fixed it a few hours after uploading it!

Thank you for giving it a try!

1.- You can steal fish when the fisherman is not there and sell it at the center of the town. 

2.- There's another piece of cheese around some place in the map.

3.- The guy outside the magic shop has a mini event if you give him the nucleus of the Rat Queen. :)
