In my case, it was because I had another input device connected. Try unplugging controllers or other input devices.

Windows 11. Everything up to date. Other Unity games work.
Event Viewer reported: Fault Bucket, type 5. RADAR_PRE_LEAK_64. With the Problem Signature P1 being the exe. (I gather from googling it this means: The game launched and shouldn't be an issue)
All in all it seems like a corrupt file (possibly unrelated to starmaker). Though re-downloading does not fix the issue. It's strange that this problem has happened twice on separate machines without any shared components from either; and only after installing a new version of the game.
(I'm trying to figure out how to get better log info, but I'm rather slow with this stuff)
I first played this at version 1.2 and it worked as expected. When I downloaded 1.3, Starmaker would get stuck in the mornings with the 'stat' screen. I couldn't click off it and it would never go away (yes, I know about F1). So, I reinstalled 1.2 which I kept saved, but the issue somehow went back a version. Fast-forward a bit and I got a new computer and wanted to see if 1.7 worked. Installed it works fine. 1.8 comes out. update to that and breaks. This time stuck on the "welcome to peak city" screen. Load 1.7 back and I'm stuck on the 'stat' screen again. start new game, stuck on peak city.
So what I am asking is: Am I just installing the game incredibly wrong? I'm just installing and extracting the game with 7-zip.
I've tried deleting everything related to previous version before installing the next; even save folders in low, locallow, and roaming folders. Yet still the issue persists.
At the very least please add something to get past those screens. Maybe a timer? as an easy work around.
