One of the biggest challenges with Flip Market has been making the world feel believable while avoiding the use of copyrighted game artwork.

Instead of using placeholder boxes forever, I've started creating fictional game covers inspired by iconic classics. They aren't 1:1 recreations - instead they're designed to capture the feeling of browsing a second-hand game shop.

So far I've been experimenting with parody titles like:

  • Resident Weevil
  • Silent Mountain
  • Alan Awake (working title!)
  • The Last of Them

Each cover includes its own fake publisher, review quotes, age ratings, descriptions, legal text and barcodes to help sell the illusion.

The goal is to eventually have shelves packed with unique games from different generations, making every browse through the inventory feel a little more authentic. What do you think currently? Bare in mind this is a close up screenshot, in game you are further away from the covers for the most part.

If you would like to play the alpha for free in your browser go here: https://northeastinteractive.itch.io/flip-market

Let me know what you think of the current game covers. Note: They are not currently in the itch game

Hey thanks for the feedback, some great points made there! I agree with them fully and they're things I have considered so that's a good sign I think.  I think all points there are things I am going to have a look into for the next update

Thank you for taking the time to play and I'm glad you had a fun experience! There is plenty more content and polish planned for future updates

Great that's good to hear thank you!

Flip Market

Hi everyone!

I’m looking for a few people to playtest the latest update for Flip Market, a browser-based simulation game about buying second-hand items, judging their value, and reselling them for profit.

The latest version, Alpha 0.1.5, focuses heavily on improving the tutorial, UI clarity, sound feedback, and the overall first-sale experience.

What you’ll be testing

The main gameplay loop is:

Browse listings → buy an item → collect the delivery → store it → list it for sale → accept an offer → pack and ship it

A full playtest should take around 10–20 minutes, and the game runs directly in your browser.

Feedback I’m looking for

I’d especially appreciate feedback on:

  • Was the First Sale tutorial easy to follow?
  • Did you ever feel unsure about what to do next?
  • Were the buttons, highlights and objectives clear?
  • Did the sounds and animations make actions feel responsive?
  • Was buying and reselling items enjoyable?
  • Did you encounter any bugs or get stuck?

You don’t need to write a long review. Even a few sentences about what worked and what felt confusing would be extremely helpful.

Please leave your feedback in this thread or in the comments on the game page.

Thanks for taking the time to test it! This update was built around feedback from earlier players, so every response genuinely helps shape the next version.

Hi there, I hope you're doing good! I’ve reworked the tutorial and added much more UI and sound feedback based on earlier testing. If you'd like to give it another go it is live now

Hey thank you for your feedback and the events are a great idea! I'm currently fixing UI issues such as the First Day panel covering information. There should be music hopefully it works in the next update for you :) I appreciate you taking the time to check it out and the point you raised about the Text leaving too quick is a good one, I did not realise that, I'll add it to be fixed.

It seems like your playthrough did show you what is in the game currently - I am updating and working on it nearly every day so there will be an update very soon, I would love for you to be able to check it out. Give the game a follow if you would like to be notified about updates. I think the next one should be around the end of this week/mid next week. Thank you again for your great feedback!

Hey busy schedule at the moment but I followed you so I can keep track of it, I plan to download when I can give it a good amount of time to play

Lol, to be fair I would be happy to add it if you would like it there? It was an idea I had in the back of my mind to add some as a small thank you (If the dev wanted of course)

Hey, thank you for taking the time to test it and write this up!

I can definitely see how the inventory is confusing, and the UI needs a lot more attention. I’ll look into the View button issue and the browser UI being cut off as soon as possible to go into the Alpha 0.1.5 update.

I’m glad the movement and tutorial worked well overall. Thanks again for testing it and helping highlight the areas that need the most improvement!

Hey! I’m looking for around 10 people to test the current alpha of Flip Market, a first-person game about buying second-hand games and collectibles, receiving deliveries, listing items and flipping them for profit.

It runs directly in your browser and should take around 5 mins (if that) to complete the first-sale objective.

I’m mainly looking for feedback on:

  • Anything confusing during the opening
  • Controls, camera or interface issues
  • Bugs during buying, delivery, storage, listing and shipping
  • Whether the core gameplay loop feels enjoyable
