Well I seem to have found a worse bug on level 2, it wont detect the correct shape for me so I guess you can only play up to level 3 (while pretending your level 2 shape submits) and if you want to play more just role-play making the shapes on the game picture (which are all further levels). If you thought it was -would be if it wasn't broken- fun Ill try to get a working version done by the end of the voting period and if you remember check the main page and there should be a working version out.

if there are no catalysts on level 2 (workspace is empty) then open up level 1 and open a new save file on level 2 (you can delete existing save files in 'documents/My Games/Crystalizer')

I will fix this once the voting period of the jam is over so as to not leave the in an unplayable state.
