I found out the bug. It’s a Spine2d related export bug that is only visible in the release builds, so it’s not easy for me to find out. Someone reported this on 0.0.9, which was the first time I heard about it. But I’ve uploaded a 0.0.7.1 (it’s purely a filename change, the game still shows 0.0.7, as I did not change any code.) to itch. This should fix the issue? I pray, because I’m about to go onto the road for the whole day, so I can’t fix any other issues. Thank you for telling me, I really appreciate it!

Okay, I have a lead on the issue. I think this might be the same edge case exporting issue with Spine2D that someone reported first time on the 0.0.9 release, but no one said anything about it on 0.0.7! If so, this is fixable and should be done soon, if not, I will have to look further into it.
Thank you for your reporting!
Thank you for telling me! I wish someone would have reported this a month ago when this version was new… But I need a bit more information to figure out what’s going on. What’s your platform, and exactly when are you going to Donna’s room? Second day, I am guessing, but before or after meeting Sonja, and exactly what do you mean by two clicks?
Unfortunately I am not currently at my studio, so hunting this issue might take a while, but I will do my best with my laptop. (Also, it could be already fixed on 0.0.8.)
Thanks for checking the tech demo out! I can own that description. It’s still pretty rough around the edges (since it’s a Tech Demo). Although I have never seen American Horror Story, and I played AHitR probbly well over a year ago last time, if not longer. Just a hint for any potential new gamedevs out there: If you start making a game, you won’t have time to play games any longer.
Post here if you find bugs, or have any other technical problems. But do read this list first:
1. I can’t unzip the file. The game does not start.
There is a high chance the file you downloaded is corrupted. Try to download the file again. If you cannot unzip it, it is almost 100% certain that the issue is in your computer’s internet connection to Itch.io page. I unfortunately can’t do anything about Itch.io servers, or your internet connection. If the game does not start, the odds are also high that your zip file was corrupted during download, but if you got an actual error message do post it, but I am uncertain what I can do about it. Godot usually runs on just about anything.
2. How powerful my computer should be?
Theoretically, you should be able to run this on a hot potato. I made conscious effort to keep technical requirements low, even if the graphics are 4K resolution. To be safe, I am OFFICIALLY not supporting anyone with less than 4GB of VRAM and 4GB of RAM on their computer. But in all honesty, in my tests I never managed to use up even 1GB of memory. The odds are that the game will run on your computer just fine. As long as Godot-based games usually run on your computer.
3. Is there a Linux/Mac/Android version?
The Linux version will come out, as soon as have a moment to boot up my Linux PC. You should see it right now.
The Mac version will come out the day I am gifted a Mac and I can check if it even works on it. Plus then I need to get a Apple Dev ID and learn all that stuff. Basically, I can build an Apple version right now on my Windows PC, but I don’t know if it will work. Even if I do build it, I will 100% not give it any technical support. I have not touched a Mac in 20 years, so I am badly out of touch with that platform.
Android is a bit of a stickler, it would require some time investment from my end, and a lot of testing. I think it is probably doable, but would take some time to set up. But if there’s enough demand and my Patrons agree, I will work on it and see what is required. But at least for now, there will not be an Android version until the game is much further along.
Can you make some kind of debug build with automatic logging? I could test it and send the log – if there’s any info to be gained from there. I don’t really understand it myself, and I’m kind of wondering if there’s something off with my settings.
edit: I’m on Windows 10, because Microsoft doesn’t allow 11 on my computer. Not supported and whatever. I’ll have to give it a spin on Linux. New drivers, Virus, etc, all checked no go. I can also tell that older version I had on my cloud had the same issue. I can’t be sure what version it was, because I deleted it already and got the new version, thinking that the issue was old version of the software. If I had to giess, I’d say it’s the very least 1 year ago. I downloaded your first version and used it quite a bit. But I can’t remember if I updated it afterwards – then I had to concentrate on other projects.
Just wanted to say that this an excellent program. I really like it, so thank you for making it. I am really enjoying it, albeit there is always some issues. I don’t have any major things to say that I think you haven’t already heard, but I’d like to add my vote for making it more user-friendly and fluid to do pixel art. Right now, if I want to make a texture for a model, especially something more pixel-art focused, like a bush. I’d actually rather do the 2D art in some other program and then do just the normal map stuff in UBP. I don’t like switching programs, and I think that with minor additions to the pixel art side it’ll be good enough. Spray tool in the vein of Aseprite, f.e. It’d make making something simple like grass texture about 10x faster.
