That was so great I am so thrilled ! Clearly a 10 for me, the pixelart is beautiful I love it, the gameplay was really challenging and the multiple combos were really satisfying to learn !!
really enjoyed all the moving upgrades, the healing beam is slightly overcheat maybe ahah I could not win without it ^^ the player movement prediction by the demon is also really good
Ship it on steam immediately please lol
This feels like a complete game ! the graphics are nice, vfx and sfx are great, and the core gameplay is nice. I just wish there was a way to increase player speed, but I think it would have been less stressful so maybe it is better like this. The UI is really nice, and the gamepad integration is bonus points :)
Should have include the title music in the game tho
Good job, solid game you have here !
The idea is so cool. I love the aesthetic the visual style is so polished really good job. I feel like you had no time to implement the rest of the game because I can’t really win or lose but I really enjoyed trying it !
Hitting space multiple times you can go super mega fast and sometimes it breaks the game lol but I love it
Everything is so polished I love it ! Super fun & creative idea, the result is challenging good job The final level took me a while to complete, mostly using jumps & dashes I love that you can do things the way you want to do it :)
Art & music sfx are amazing, the UI also is perfect, you scoped it perfectly !
Good job good game
The game was fun ! Getting the upgrades was really enjoyable I could see the progression.
However I think it would have been better if I could fire multiple bullets, because when a bullet is bouncing over the walls I could not shoot anymore and I ran into a bug where the bullet had too much speed and escape the scene sooo I was doomed to death since I could not fire anymore.
Other than that, good job ! with the sfx the music and the screenshake it has some juice !
Love the visuals ! The pixelart is cool keep going :)
I had to make a few run before I could beat the final room, it’s hard with all the ennemies ! And I had a bug where cats glued on my head so it was hard but I manage to beat it ! The final cutscene is amazing, was worth it
Maybe it would be better with upgrades I agree but controls and screen shake are on point
Hey I don’t know why but I could not break the glass ? Is this supposed to happen ? I was shooting at it and it breaks for 0.1s and then it reappears. I could not go up way to the other zone and so I was always dying at some points because I could not get enough ectoplasm… What I am doing wrong ? It worked for other people
10/10 for me ! Love the aesthetic the post processing the UI the color the gameloop well I really loved everything ! It looks like a 3month game projects from a small team so the fact that you pulled up this solo in 3 days is amazing ^^
Love the core idea but I am biaised I love scripts and sys admin things lmao
Even the little how to play menus are banger, gj !
I love the core idea, but could not really draw the spells correctly I think ? Except the basic one, the others were working once per 3 tries and so it was very difficult because there were a lot of ennemies around. But maybe I wasnt precise enough and that’s it !
The overall game looks very good and polished, good job !
thank you so much !! I don’t know if I will do a devlog but you can find the code here : https://github.com/louisaiva/ultracapitalism_simulator
i don’t know if I will work again on it since it was a 3 day gamejam break from my main game project ! I am afraid if I start improving this one I would just give up the other ://// but we never know !
It’s good to start with pygame ! This way you will learn how to work with libraries and how to tweak things to make them work the way you want :D When you will be satisfied with your pygame progress, then it will be time to switch to godot and everything will be easier and faster because you learnt the hard way ! That’s my advice this is how I did it and I am glad I did this way but maybe it’s a terrible advice idk lol
It is always hard to build .exe from python there are always missing libraries, do you have discord it would be easier to talk ?
Loved the entry !! I started making games with pygame & pyglet before switching to unity so I’m glad to try a pygame game !!
The latest build still has broken no library found (python313.dll but also others) but the python code runs perfect with python 3.13 + pip pygame installed
I was very confused bcz when you enter the boss fight with no abilities the boss does not attack you and you can’t do anything but alt f4 and restart. However, after buying all the upgrades I could fight it and it was very good :D love the screenshake it matches perfectly the ball bounce ! love it
Keep going making games !!
Thanks a lot for the detailled feedback and playing the game !
I’m glad you liked the UI I love making UI and I had a great time making it ^^
I totally agree with your points, some music would have been cool as well as fixing the newspapers softlock I thought about this but had no time to implement it sadly the time was running fast ://
After all the only real thing that had a cost was time omg
THank you very much for playing and feedback ! It is the first real game I actually publish somewhere so it means a lot to see that at least someone liked it !!
Yeah a critical bug sneaked into the windows build as well :// I made a patch (2 actually), but I can’t post them rn on itch.io because I did them after the game jam. Will upload them here after the ratings !
If you can’t wait 4 days to play a version you can actually win, you can try the 0.0.7 one on the github page (where I posted the source code as well) : https://github.com/louisaiva/ultracapitalism_simulator/releases/ It is not perfect I just fixed the bug and made some slightly balancing but the end game is stiil wayy too annoying to me.
Don’t worry no pigeon was mistreated during the making of the game
Solid game ! It is a tryharder game I love that :D
The level design is really cool and that’s the strengh of the game, and that’s why I think the ore colliders should be bigger and easier to touch (I missed so much each time !). I think the difficulty of the game is managing the speed and platforms, and so if you need to manage perfect time mining ore it becomes reaally hard i think. But it is only my thought maybe you want a hardcore game and that’s fine ahah. The mouse sensitivity also is way too high for me.
Again, these 2 points are details and polish, so it makes sense for a game jam that they come as lowest priorities, but it is part of the game now !
Very cool idea I liked playing !!
Loved the scenario. The combats and the punitive death are less fun to me but it is not my game genre so it makes sense. Would have love to have some checkpoints, yes. And maybe have a less distracting/contrasted background for the combats so you can clearly identify the dangerous projectiles, it was a bit hard to see them with the moving stars.
But interesting to mix a shoot em up with a dialog scenario system like this ! good job
