I used one of those prismatic gems to level up a bunch, and after the second choice dialogue box came up but before I could click anything, it was cleared and I got one of those pointless dialogues where one NPC wants to gift another NPC a face paint potion. Now none of my level up dialogues are there and those levels are wasted.
To recreate, just have a number of NPCs that either HATE each other or LOVE each other and they will often interrupt.
