Greetings!

As per Calandiel's request I'm putting a progression of one particular world though versions here. But I'm taking it a bit further and going though all the versions that at the time of writing this I have at my disposal, that is:

  • 0.1.2,
  • 0.1.3,
  • 0.2.0,
  • 0.2.1,
  • 0.3.0,
  • 0.3.1
  • and 0.3.2.

With that range we have one particular problem: version incompatibility that affects us in both ways in rather interesting way. If we take a define (a file that contains all generation setting for a particular world) from let's say 0.3.1 or 0.3.0 and try to load it in 0.3.2 the game will crash, but going with a define from 0.3.2 down to 0.2.1 won't cause any issue. That is until we try to load it in 0.2.0 and lower due to the change in plate_count. After modifying it we can load it right into 0.1.2 without any problems. Also in 0.1.2 almost every plate was marked as Continental and starting from 0.1.3 it changed to all marked as Either

With all that in mind I'll be following next rule: from 0.1.2 to 0.2.0 I'll be using the define from each version respectively, putting generation settings with the UI and then adding proper seed with the text editor, from 0.2.1 to 0.3.2 I'll be using the define from 0.2.1 which was modified to be compatible with 0.3.2. For visual I'll be using only 2D colored heightmap and starting from 0.3.0 will add approximation of planet colors.

0.1.2

Nothing to say here, 2 main continents with addition of antarctic.

0.1.3

With change in plate types (may be, I don't know how much was actually changed) northern continent stretched itself through the entire planet on higher latitude and thinned on lower, meanwhile southern moved toward equator and lost some of its land, also antarctic region now oceanic.

0.2.0

(Why are they look the same?)

Emm... Glacial sea became more jagged on the south I guess. But actually there were more changes that cannot be seen on a heightmap. Moving on.

0.2.1

And here it is, The World. From now on the overall shape won't change besides some height on smaller ones.

0.3.0

RIP inland sea
With the release of 0.3.0 we got the entire solar system, rain shadows, lakes (look at the north). We also got planet colors:

looks liveable

0.3.1

0.3.2

Welcome to the era of reefmaxxing and better Tibetan plateus. Here are some reefs that were spotted on this map:

Thank you for coming to my GlebTalk.
