It's great that you made the first move to get yourself out and show what you can do.
Many people are to afraid to. making themselves not believe that what they made will live up to expectation of players. Making their talent and passion wither and disappear or get burnt out making the first game be the absolute perfect game of all time and quiting half way through development and they may never return. Everything will work out don't let a small mistake or a oversight put you off making what you love. Go at yoru own pace people will love what you loved making.
Bottom line is - work with love and passion, don't be afraid to make mistakes and work at your own pace don't give yourself unrealistic deadlines.
