i also felt like i noticed something like this. also, the pixel should be more like a triangle with the point being the direction you are facing

really loving this so far. i found a bug where the map is totally blacked out if you try to access it after pausing/resuming using the Esc button. workaround: save the game, quit and reload the save to restore map functionality
