I am not going to lie, I was a tad confused about how to play the game, but I slowly got the hang of it over time. Still, I am kinda confused by my overall objective to win. I liked the graphics and music and also thought that it was based around positivity (I think?). Overall, a pretty decent game with a creative method of delivering the wholesome message!

First of all, this is a visually stunning game looking as if it was a living children's book. Just looking at all of the nice, hand-crafted artwork made me feel cozy. I am unsure if it is due to my computer screen being at a higher resolution or the native export itself, but it can be hard to see my cursor at times. Combine this with the somewhat slow movement, and I can find it hard to tell if I actually have a grasp on the object. The gameplay is fun, but I wish there was a bit more. The game's positivity is exemplified through its art which makes it feel just at home with this year's theme, and I also admire that you themed it to Christmas as well. Overall, this game is beautiful with some solid gameplay and a definite contender in this game jam!

While debatably wholesome, the gameplay itself feels good. I wish there was a bit more substance, but the game is nice to look at.

While I feel like the visuals can clash at times, I love how much detail was put into each level and how much stuff to look at there is. I could not wait to see the next section just to see the other parts of this wacky and vibrant world. It does pretty well at conveying the theme of positivity (even giving slight jabs at COVID, I believe!). The controls can feel stiff sometimes and it may be hard to tell where there are and are not platforms, but after a couple of minutes, it can be easy to get used to. Overall, a very solid entry that I enjoyed playing!

Great game! I enjoyed the cars' physics and also the small little effects that went into skidding and drifting. I wish there was a bit more substance and positivity, but, overall, I like it!

This was a great idea! I love the story that was slowly told. Still, I wish there was a bit more incentive to try and fit things you already had in your schedule, but I know this defeats the purpose of the game. Overall, I enjoyed the little message that was conveyed and think its super important to everyone, especially those that often participate in Jams!

Sorry to hear that! I had not thought to test it in Firefox, but I will make sure to do so in future gamejams!

Yes, I understand completely. I tinkered for hours attempting to get the raycasting perfect but it always seemed off. Something about the object of the environment throwing out an exception, allowing for the light to detect the player first. Thank you for playing!

That is indeed the music! I figured that it may have been a bit confusing that the glitch noise was intentional, especially since the genre of the song was vastly different!

that’s fair. I should have made a feature that zooms out the screen to see the surroundings, but I didn’t have enough time! Thanks for playing.

Beautiful :))

1. Thank you! I will try and tighten up the controls a bit.

2.-4. I should have made the walls a different color. Since the theme revolved around the original gameboy, I kinda wanted to stick to the original 4-color puke-green palette. I understand what you mean though.

5. I had plans for a gameboy power up that would allow you to shoot, but unfortunately my Cal II homework was merciless. I hope to add this after the jam :)

6. I actually did not think of this. I could probably use this in tandem with roads that cut off for a bit.

Thanks so much for the review!

Actually, the menu can be accessed via the b or a buttons on the gameboy!

As for the actual pixels, I know I kinda cheated, but I usually only tried to do it on the font and the actual title screen instead of the in-game sprites themselves.

Thanks for the review of my game!

I would have played your game, but, for some bizarre reason, I couldn't get the files to work. Sorry about that!

The video is up now! Footage of your game is near the closing of the video itself.

Loved the concept and almost did something similar to it. Would you mind me using footage of your game in my devlog with credit?

Congrats on your win! Your game was a fun play through, as mentioned before. Would you mind me putting footage of your game in my devlog?

While simplistic, the gameplay loop is addictive. It would have been nice to able to control some of the randomness at times, but then I guess that would make it too easy. Very good, though. I am making a devlog video and wanted some footage from the jam. Would you mind if I used your game if I gave you credit?

Loved the game! Very unique concept. Sometimes it took a while to split and merge which could get tedious, but I enjoyed it overall! I am making a Youtube video about my experience and would love to use footage from your game with credit. Would you mind?

Loved this game! I am making a game dev video for my Youtube channel. Would you mind if I used footage from your game? I will provide credit for it!

I never did. I ended up counting it towards my time.

Actually, most of my trouble came from the idea itself. For some reason, my code would not work, so nearly half of my time spent was in the main mechanic's bug itself.

Sorry if the specific ones ended up not being completely taken; the way that I checked for a win state is completely arbitrary to the actual final state and looks more at the arrays that may or may not be bugged in the level. I had to leave it like that due to a lack of time.

Thank you for your kind words and playtesting!

I love this game!

Cool game, cannot get the CRT shader to work, though

Cool game! Sometimes it can take a while to make a mutation, but I suppose that is where the luck comes in. Overall, very fun!

I had recently watched a Youtuber do this challenge and he didn’t consider creating the menu, credits, etc. towards the 3 hour time limit. He just included assets and gameplay. Does this mean that any time spent on scenes outside of the gameplay are not counted in the time limit?

Thanks in advance.
