Yeah, that is the purpose of an overall theme in a game jam, but I’m talking about how they said the game doesn’t have to include little guys, but the theme is Little Guy, so the game has to include little guys.

(1 edit)

Are you replying to the right post?

I'm not talking about a baby, or what a little guy should be in general, I'm talking about where the overview says "This doesn't mean you have to make a game with little guys" but the theme is literally "Little Guy (again)", meaning that we do have to make a game with little guys, even though the overview says we don't.

This whole community post was pretty much a joke tbh.

You say that the game doesn’t have to include little guys, yet the theme says it does.

That is  c h e a t i n g .

EEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE

I've played this game longer than I've played any other game in the jam, and it's especially fun to grow the story as you keep going, I was getting a bit lost in the sauce as I was playing.

Thank you! I'm not sure how to interpret paths and indications into the games yet, though I'll probably do it through NPCs for now. Thanks for the suggestion!

Thanks! That's nice to hear :3

Yoo, this game is really addictive. The gameplay loop is immaculate and it’s hard to leave once you’ve gotten the hang of it.

Also the F to pay respects is just tremendous. 🫡

A very nice game, didn't take me too long to get used to. The critters and the customers were silly, but after reading the handbook, I instantly forgot what each of them do and all my critters escaped on the first day :')

Also what did the guy you hate do to get hate? Free my boy ;-; (I didn't really play for that long, so I'll revisit this again and maybe I'll see why you hate him.)

Really cool game! I can see the Mario Bros in it! But no one to play with sadly...

It's a cool little game for a one week jam! I will say I got a bit annoyed upon realising that I had limited rocks, but that's entirely on me lol.

A short and sweet game with a simple and fun objective. A very silly game.

A cute little game with a kind message- It's like it's teaching us a life lesson.

Though I found the tutorial a bit confusing, it's actually easy to get your head around how everything works, and serving the little guys was fun and cosy, and now I can pay off mob debt :) Also is the menu based off the menu in Friday Night Funkin'? There's a lot of similarities, and I believe some of the sound effects were used in there too.

I also didn't find any bugs in this, only hungry GubGubs. Great game!

This game is really cute, and literally little! Just one thing: After you lose to the boss one time, upon restarting, he still tries to attack you as soon as you come out of the chest. Also the lego bricks acting as spikes brings painful memories...

Oh my gosh, it's Death By Roomba.

doomba

As a simple sucker for cards that (now) googles images of gnomes and wants to rip their bearded heads off, for me, this game is beautiful. The music was brilliant as well, I'm making a Bandcamp account for this.

Damn, this game has a touching story. Can't wait for the full release!

Thanks! I'm trying to get it polished as of now, and I'm glad you like my little guys!

The game is a good challenge, and the mechanics are cool, but I would suggest adding a button that can take the player back to the checkpoint.

That aside, this game clearly prioritises gameplay over looks, and I like that.

Ahh yes, the Kidnap Little Guys while driving in a very legitimate truck that most certainly delivers what it promises.

This concept is really fun, and the guys are mostly unsuspecting of the plan. Also I've heard some of these songs before, I'm pretty sure one of them is M2 from Pet in Tv.

This game is cute! Even if I'm struggling to get past the fourth level!

Jeez, Gabe must have some serious debt to pay if there are demons chasing them and if the whole place is telling them that they deserve to rot.

But seriously, sick game.

Cool game! The art gives the game a cosy feel and the fact that it's based on the tamagotchi is also cute. This might sound rude but is there a way to make the little guy die? I want to kill him and see my consequence.

So... the game doesn't have a defined main scene so it kind of crashes and can't be played.

This dragon looks like it's ready to become a marketable plushie. If shinies and food is a dragon's life, then I want it.

This is a neat game! It's giving  that 'don't talk to me or my son ever again' meme. The guys are precious and I want one. Also, there's a little bug (I think) in the game where one little guy obstructs the other from going to where you want it to go, but overall, great game!

This is a cool game! The mechanics are cool, the text is silly and the guys are little! It took me around three tries to find the altar but I think that's just me being a stupidhead >_<

Thanks! I missed two days of the jam and I was worried that I wouldn't have a decent game at the end of the jam, but I'm glad someone enjoyed it!

Thanks for the reply, I guess I was wrong lol.

Hi! I'm a mostly solo dev that has made games in Scratch before, but I'm now trying to create games using GMS2 and/or Unreal or Godot in the future. My current skills are 2D art, a bit of animation and programming (GML Visual and Code and a bit of C++), trying to get into 3D art and music composition (slowly but surely lol), and I'm currently joining game jams to try and get out of tutorial hell (this is my first one, if the one I didn't finish on time doesn't count).

It would definitely be hard to get a non-digital game into a (assumably) global game jam, just because it would be a lot easier for the people hosting the jam and the people voting in the jam to play a digital game since it's easily accessible for everyone no matter which part of the world they are in (unless they have poor internet connection or they have no access to a device, ofc).  I'd say it depends on the way you choose to interpret submitting the non digital game onto the platform. If you are talking about a card or board game, you could record a video of the game (rules, how to play, gameplay footage, etc.) and send it directly to the jam discord (people could watch it in the discord), because I'm pretty sure sending a non-digital game through this platform would require delivery (local) or overseas shipping (global, but I don't think itch.io is able to do that yet lol) due to potential geographical differences, but I guess a game is still a "game", whether you choose to make it digital or physical. In summary, I'd say make a digital game just in case (in this current time, the jam starts in 2 days) but I do believe that non-digital games should be accepted in game jams as much as digital games, but it depends on how you send it to the jam. I haven't been on this site for long and I'm not sure if videos can be sent through itch.io, and while it's not actually a host in the jam replying to this so it's not really official, I hope it helped in one way or another :)
