dude I needed that thnks

Hey hyperpop. I underestimated the issue, and assumed these comments like "no toys i can use" were exaggerations.

I've restored the content which was initially intended as part of the free-to-play version, and more on top of that as an apology for fucking the launch.

Also I made the breathing quieter :x

To anyone reading this comment thread - I fucked up the launch and no content was unlocked for the free Itch version of the game.

I assumed commenters were exaggerating when stating that nothing could be used, as my own machine was unlocking content fine.

This was because my personal build was overriding the unlock process and giving me the content, which wouldn't have worked for any other player.

I've explained in more detail in the devlog, but tl:dr I fucked it and a new build is now available which fixes the issue.

You are right, please check the devlog post and accept my apology my dude. It was never my intent to launch NS2 in that state, I feel like I've insulted everyone by advertising the product as free-to-play when it wasn't playable at all.

The build has been updated to fix the issue.

Indeed it was a bug, there is a new build update with unlocked content and a devlog post explaining the situation.

Hello, please check out the devlog, and accept my apology. I responded to you that toys WERE unlocked, but discovered that a mistake during my testing was unlocking content only for my own machine, and it wouldn't have worked for anyone else.

Huge fuck up on my part. A new build is available now which should unlock more content for everyone.

Hey TINESL,

Let me personally apologise, an oversight caused none of the content to be available to Itch players. I truly thought comments like this were exaggerating as content was intended to be unlocked, hence my reply to you and others.

My dev machine was unlocking the correct content during testing because of my own save file, a huge rookie mistake. A new build has been uploaded to Itch which will hopefully fix this for everyone.

This is something I haven't tested since I only have a single dev machine to test on, but all through december I'll be incorporating VR into NS2, which will certainly require me to do a heavy optimization pass. Please check back occasionally to see if it runs for you.

Check back in a few days, I'll be unlocking much of the content for free-to-play.

And lmao, noted about the breathing. It is too loud for sure.

Aight, I hear you and the other commenters. The next build release will contain much more content unlocked for the free-to-play version. The systems here are a complete overhaul from NS1, the plan is eventually to merge a lot of the content from NS1 to NS2, it just made more sense to develop this as a separate experience because it is very different to NS1.

Please check back occasionally to see if there's anything you might like.

NS2 is included in that bundle to bring awareness to it when people come across the bundle itself from elsewhere, but I agree it seems counter-intuitive to advertise it from a free product page - Itch posts that automatically. Any free product in that bundle does NOT increase the overall price of the bundle.

"Suggestion: give the free players more than just 2 dolls they can whack around and actually let them try at least 1 toy."

There is TWO toys unlocked for the free version, not just one!

The scene being limited to two charactes is the same for supporters too, currently for performance & stability. But spawning more will be possible.

The rest of the feedback on the UX is noted, polish like you suggested is on the to-do list for sure. I'll update the description on this page to note exactly what features are available, each update is planned to add features and options to all the support tiers, including free to play.

Thanks for your input sir!

If you think the word "limited" doesn't describe it correctly, your description of "to do literally anything you have to be a subscriber" is pretty innacurate too! You can certainly do limited stuff with the free to play beta, exactly as advertised.

Anyway, it is planned to have content trickle down as more equipment and features are added, so the freely playable version will be getting more stuff that was previously locked out. This has been out for less than a day, is described as "in development" and with limited content, so please don't be too disappointed.

I definitely appreciate the feedback, if it's too limited for you please check back occasionally and hopefully more stuff will have been added for the free to play mode <3
