It's a bit fiddly to play and way too difficult. I know what you mean. That's why I programmed the new version: Brek'n'Bubble. You can play it on an emulator using a keyboard. Even then, the player is hard to control.
Glad you like Brek'n'Bubble! 😀

Yes, Wine has been available for everyday use on Macs since 2007. Before that, it was more for nerds with too much time on their hands. :-)
It was a bit fiddly (thanks to AI, which solved the problem in seconds :-) ) but now it works perfectly, even on Apple Silicon.
I know I'm repeating myself, but it's a great game!
- what counts is the disk image
- it's called "make your choice"
- yes it has and I like it and it is composed on a C64 in the late 80s
- there is a pause because the code needs to switch of the IRQ to switch off the OS to swap some GFX between RAM under the ROM between $e000 and $ffff
that's it. is there something you like as well?
press the button then move to left or right and hold the button pressed for a moment. release the button during the jump or still pressed if you want to make more jumps in a row. for example to move fast in long tunnels or places where a lot skulls rolling around.
Watch my gameplay in the video above. I play very fast using the jump. I prefer to play in Vice and 'allow keyset joysticks" so I play with keyboard only. Much more precise than a joystick. I play in general every C64 game with keyboard. ofc as a kid I loved the joystick but nowadays I can't imagine to play with joystick. hahaha
