The confusion around merge/split has been in the game for a while. I think a simple name change, along with a short tutorial page showing how it works, would solve the issue. As the game expands and more machines are added, keeping splitters and mergers as separate entities feels unnecessary.
On the other hand, having a 3-way option is very interesting. Something like a 3:3 setup is awesome!
