Very cool game! I struggled with putting in the correct text for a while (I am very profoundly stupid lol), but I was able to read your comment and figure out what I was supposed to type in. I am in love with the concept of a person from the real world delving into a mystic world of fantasy and horror, and this game captures that beautifully. The music and aesthetic somewhat reminds me of Fatum Betula, which is one of my favorite psychological horror indie games. I am so very honored that someone who worked on this game had played and commented on mine!

Thank you so much for the input! I did stupidly decide to do all of the programming and debugging (besides the movement controls, which I did first) in one night, right before releasing it. That being said, I didn't take my time to put in any kind of tutorial (whoops!). The yellow glowing areas, being on the docks, are only interactive when you have the Fishing Rod. There's no specific controls to interact, you only need to get close to the object. Most of the memories (items) are collectable only if you have another specific item, and the Fishing Rod is the most important part. I classified this game as a puzzle game, so it may be very confusing, but if you keep exploring, there are 9 items you can collect in total. If you like my aesthetic, please feel free check out my other games!
Beautifully charming and sad. This Jam let me explore within myself the feelings I have with the concept of death, the beautiful pain of grief, and the sweet celebrations of life we share to mask the unimaginable, especially when it's a child that dies. This game captured beautifully the feelings I had. The drawings were so beautifully eerie, too! Coincidentally, my birthday also lands around Thanksgiving, so that was a fun way I could relate to the characters, lol.
You and another user too! I made this entry using Game Maker Studio 2, and I'm pretty certain my computer doesn't have any viruses (I get paranoid and scan it every once and a while). How disappointing :( EDIT: I did another full-computer scan using Malwarebytes, and it detected nothing, so I'm really not sure what it could be.
As the Devil mentions in the beginning, this world is made of memories, so everything that happens in this world has figuratively already happened. There's no actual way to lose, and the hearts are a red-herring. Keep exploring, some of the items you find will help you find other items, and if you find them all, you might be able to see your mommy again ;) Sorry for the confusion.
This is a very enjoyable game with very enjoyable graphics. I was confused at first about the feature where you get power ups if you die a certain way (at first I thought it was a bug, lol), but it tied the whole game up in a neat way that perfectly encapsulated the theme of the jam. The claw shot level was fun, but it was quite frustrating having to continuously restart the level because I grabbed the hook from the wrong angle. Maybe Nera could jump up at a 45 degree angle after each hook? Most of the frustrations I had with the game, however, stemmed from the fact that I am very profoundly stupid. I did accidently soft-lock myself on level 2, so the ol' "Press R to Restart" feature might be helpful. When the game is fully finished, I think it would be a really good puzzle game!
The highlight of this game is the characters and humor. The dev implemented a quirky, dark humor that I really enjoyed. I also really liked the VHS-style video segments, the chalk being used as a euphemism for fun powder, and the shoplifting feature. Some critiques I had, however, is that the programming is very finnicky. It's very easy to accidentally break this game and have to restart it. I actually got stuck on the phone the first time I booted up the game, and had to use the Windows key to access my taskbar and close the game. Some walls and objects are also missing collisions and if you manage to get yourself up on a ledge (I managed to get on top of the shelves at the convenience store), the player will stay at that elevation (at one point I wondered: "why am I so tall??"). The idea for this game was great, and I'd love to see more games with lots of personality like this, but the execution could use some work.
I get this 100%. I'm a somewhat seasoned dev (several published projects, countless unfinished/unreleased projects) and the experience I had making my submission in time did a number on me. After I uploaded my project, I felt like I woke up from a hellish, drug-induced fever dream. I'll try to check out your project after you release it!
