I don't know if the game is unfinished or if I missed something, but despite that, I really liked the game!

The greybox aesthetic with the blank grey sky gives the game a very ethereal vibe, really fitting of a nightmare/dream, I was also really surprised to see this have some voice acting! Good job on that front!

Now you should really pay attention to both accessibility and game design, you made this on the Forward+ renderer on Godot, some computers like the one I have don't really support it so I had to play the game through the console; in game jams try to work in Compatibility as its more accessible and can export to web.

And if there is a intended path to follow for an ending, you should make it clear to the player where they should go, this is a mistake I made on my own game for this jam as well.

Overall, for your first game ever, this is really good! You just need more experience and work some kinks out and you can make a really good fleshed out game. Great work and good luck from me Solaire!

Very addictive game, my hand was already hurting by the 100th crank, but after that I figured out a less straining way to play. I'm not really into these sorts of games, but its fun for what its worth. Good job devs, you made a Clicker Game without technically being a Clicker lol

Really funny and fun game! I love the concept and how satirical it is, though I wasn't able to get all 8 pages, I had a blast trying. I got 7 out of the 8 after probably like 1 hour of replaying, and then him spontaneously appearing after that was pretty frightening! Great job, keep it up.

Really scary game! At first I was a little confused on how to play, but I got the hang that its a free cam platformer. Took me several tries to get to cross the bridge but it was pretty fun! The AI of the monsters are a little bit confusing, sometimes they saw me right at the end despite me going slowly or really fast and not using the light.

And is the environment supposed to be underwater? Or are the monsters like floating fish? Cuz if it's supposed to be underwater the camera visuals don't really reinforce that, only the jump sound and the monsters.

Great job! I actually felt some shivers while playing this.

Really fun game! I really like how it plays and the arcadey nature of it, reminds of FNaF and other similar games where theres a clear gameplay loop. One question I have is, does the game go on forever (ie: it doesn't have an ending condition)? If so it would be nice to add a stats display when you die with info like, how long the player survived, how many candles you lit up, etc.

Really great game, I had a ton of fun with it! Keep it up!

Really well made game! I really liked the feel and visual style of the game, and gameplay loop is simple yet intuitive and fun. My only nitpick is that the game could have had a Main Menu where the Fullscreen and Resolution options would be.

But nevertheless, really fun and scary game! Keep up the good work!

The game's visuals are really good, I especially like the models and PBR materials.

But I couldn't get far on the game from how I played there was no trigger to the actions I performed, I tried a bunch of stuff like cranking the joystick, changing the phasers, frequency, and stuff, but nothing happened on my end or anything indicating that there was anything happening. Only after clicking on everything that I understood after accidentally clicking on it that I needed to check the terminal monitor, and even then I thought I had to change the frequency on the other monitors, instead I needed to type "frequency" on the terminal. It is very unintuitive.
The game could also do with some more option settings on the main menu.

Apart from that great work, the visuals and models are amazing and I also really liked the music.

I wasn't able to complete it but I really liked the shaders you guys used for this. The artstyle and designs aren't bad either, the game could do with some balancing and settings though. Great work.

Really good game, I got the Neutral and Bad Ending and had some fun with it. My only complain is that I wish this was more scary. Apart from that great job.

Really great job on the game! I really liked the atmosphere and the models, and the little detail that I really liked was how crouching makes your footsteps louder (As your ears would be closer to sound source).

The cable thing is a little confusing, as I got stuck there trying to crouch into the tiny hole for sometime, but not big of a deal; the in-game tutorials saying the wrong inputs for interacting and turning on the flashlight also threw me in for a loop, I only realized the correct mouse buttons on 2nd playthrough and then saw you addressed it in your gamepage.

For a first published project this is really well crafted! I hope to see more from you in the future.

Happy Halloween, and thank you so much for playing! Yes the encounter with the monster is the ending, although I wanted to do a little bit more afterwards I was pretty tight on schedule so I had to leave it there. I'm planning on taking the original concept and turning into a full and complete game as I had a lot planned that was scrapped to save time.

Very good game, really scary!

Very ambitious game, I like it! It was very scary and actually got me to scream once or twice! It's a shame I couldn't finish it as I got stuck in the red rooms despite being jumpscared twice.

Also would've done well to have a mouse sensitivity options, as I had to move my mouse a lot to turn around! Which slightly damaged my immersion with the game.

Overall very good horror game! Great job to you developers!

Thanks for playing and reviewing your experience!

I guess I'll can give it a 2nd try

Thanks a lot for playing!

Thank you, from the other 3D games I played for this jam; that's a pretty common problem. But if you want to retry it, make sure to toggle fullscreen in Options, and don't press Esc during the gameplay, the pages can be put away by clicking outside of them. The mouse will automatically be captured after that.

Thanks, I have recently updated the game so the walls are more visible.

That's awesome!
While I didn't pour as much time as I wanted, I pulled an all nighter on the last day to get everything done for my game. It was pretty chaotic!

Good game overall. Although the sprites style are all over the place, I liked how the ending scene played out. The portraits are well made, and the minigames are short and simple. Good job!

Very well made game!
I played it like half a dozen times and got 84%. While personally its not very scary, the gameplay is addicting, the controls are simple and intuitive, and with really polished design and graphics! Really surprising this has only two reviews!
Great job and keep up the good work!

Pretty impressive. I did not finish it, but I can tell this game was very polished from the ground up. You must've sacrificed a lot of time in order to make this game! Great job

I got lost midway through, but the game looksand aesthetics are very good! Great job.

Very creative game!

Thanks for playing! You can toggle fullscreen in Main Menu Options

Really enjoyable game, really liked the mechanics! I wasn't able to finish it, but it was a lot of fun to play!

Thanks for playing! There's currently a bug where the audio completely phases out after sometime playing, unfortunately I didn't fix it on time. Not sure if that's the bug that you experienced, but just thought to mention!

I'm not very familiar card games, but I really liked how intuitive this game is! Though the graphics are a bit jank, it really does fit the pirate vibe this has going. Really great job!

Thank you for playing Shumey, Hope you had fun with the game!

Hey! This is going to be one of my first game jams, and I'm also trying to get into a group. I'd like to contact you on Discord, if you don't mind. My username is @mr_solaire0810.

I'm a programmer and also a composer, so if we do this Jam together the music side will be twice as easy at least lol

Hi! I'm Solaire, been making music since 2016 and I'm looking for a team. Passionate for Horror games, and would love to participate and create a immersive and scary horror game together! :)

Apart from Audio Engineering, I can program and make code in Godot (C# or GDScript); I also have some experience with 3D modelling in Blender, but it is a skill I am still honing. (very bad at it xc)

If you're interested you can contact me on Discord @mr_solaire0810 =D, I also have a GitHub page https://github.com/MrSolaire810(currently only private contributions)

Very cool stuff!

It's a good game, very interesting idea, and I liked that you let the player toggle off the shaders =].
The jump sfx is really really loud though, could use some adjusting.

REALLY well done game! Reminded me a bit of the Penumbra series! Loved the use of the lighting, and the "tiny jumpscares" you see from time to time. The part at the end had me at awe, it was so creepy and cool and the same time!

Now for some critiques... While I don't mind the limited control, I feel the lack of basic features like jumping or leaning (left or right) impede somewhat the immersion of the player towards the game... Though that is my only complain, so good job!

Would love to see more games on this style, can't wait to play the next parts!

Nicely said Maatin :^) Hope you make more games in the future!
Cheers!

Good evening! Don't worry about it, I was just nitpicking some parts of the game, hopefully you guys will sort it out on your next games!
I'll be looking forward your team's next release :D And cute gif btw!

Amazing game! Honestly it's very surprising this game is available for free, it's that good!

I loved the artstyle, it gives that macabre yet surreal feeling to the game. And the intro was sequence was awesome (though I did get stuck there for a bit lol)

I have very little to complain, mostly that some parts don't guide the player properly, as there were I didn't know a room was in the scene or an item was interactable or not, it's a small thing but I was almost quitting during the bedrooms parts... (couldn't find HIS room becuz it was squished to the left) If they glowed or had some kind of unique shader, it would've been perfect.

Overall this was made amazingly and with much love I can tell, so this is a solid 9/10 indie horror game for me, big props to the devs :)

Also is it just me or is the paper read sound quite familiar?

Great game :)!

The ambience and atmosphere from the shaders and lights are really well made!

Just wish it had some screen settings to go with it :/

Awesome game overall :)

Really good game! Great atmosphere, and even had game settings! We don't see that much around here :^)
