This book made me fall in love with MG horror again after a long break from it. A comparison with Goosebumps would be an accurate description, but Neitherswarth also feels like a unique, spooky and magical story in its own right.

The descriptions of the imaginative world the Berge siblings discover are amazing (JL is a seriously good writer) and it's pretty much impossible not to fall in love with every single character. A must read for horror fans of all ages

Another excellent ghostly tale from MG Mason. I had a great time reading this; the sense of mystery draws you in straight away and despite its short length the plot manages to keep you guessing right to the end, taking several interesting and unexpected turns along the way. I loved the historical setting too; as always the author has done a brilliant job of taking readers back in time with impressive attention to detail. More great work from a talented author

This is certainly one of the cleverest zombie stories I've read. There's much more going on in Dead Lock than I expected, and if you're looking for something in the zombie genre that's a little different then this is definitely worth picking up.

Set in an alternate England controlled by a 1984-style government the story feels like a horror, thriller and dystopian drama all at once, the genres blending together seamlessly. Most of the scenes takes place in the grounds of a prison as inmates face off against hordes of undead in order to win freedom, so there's plenty of zombie action, but also enough ominous hints and references for the reader to easily picture the threatening outside world these characters also live in. It all makes for a very effective atmosphere.

Scenes which flash back to different times can sometimes feel distracting but in this story they're well written, fit in naturally and make for interesting plot additions. There are a lot of twists and turns, surprises and enjoyable moments of dark comedy. Great fun to read

This ghostly tale ticked so many boxes for me. A short but absorbing story it's ideal reading for dark and cold nights, a wonderfully written book that achieves a perfect balance of being haunting and spooky yet cosy and moving all at the same time.

The mystery which makes up the majority of the story is perfectly sustained. I also loved the old-fashioned style of narration and would definitely recommend fellow fans of classic literature consider giving this story a go.
