There should only be one car at a time in each -pair- of lanes. Sometimes there are two approaching but the lane timing is staggered. Have you tried utilizing the ability to hold a leg in the air? While the key is held for leg movement, that leg will be immune to collision; then, you can quickly let go and press the key for the other leg.
