This is an incredible recreation of the feeling of discovering strange ZX Spectrum games circa 1990.  It's modern, mouse driven and nicely streamlined but everything about the aesthetic is exactly right, from the crunchy spaceship animation to the choice of machine voice.

I did spend a few minutes confused by the interface because I didn't realize the demo started in travel mode and buttons I was searching for were exclusive to combat mode.  This is largely due to my fight-the-tutorial instincts but maybe that detail could be front loaded a little more.

Heh, it's funny the enemy which locked in these controls happens to be called the blade.  Time to go get some Supox practise in!

Hey you know how some of the ships in Star Control replace the default Spacewar! controls with their own movement system, would that be possible in SSG with certain ships or upgrades unlocking other flight modes or would flying too different break enemy AI?

Any clues for what your subconscious mind desires to unlock Next: ???

Yeah, that took a while to find, and Z and S for up and down is bizarre on a QWERTY keyboard.  What layout are you working with?

There's a UI problem with the web version, it doesn't register button presses if the mouse isn't held completely still.
